RIP thread

My granddaughter asked Alexa to play “Pretty Little Baby” and I was like, what is this, this sounds like something from way, way back. Turns out is was released before I was born but I was aware of who Connie Francis was being the 2nd youngest child in a family with 7 kids spaced roughly every 3 years. I heard lots of my older sisters songs on the radio and phonograph.

I was wondering how my granddaughter knew it. Then I read this in the WaPo obit for her.

As of Thursday, more than 22.5 million TikTok videos have been created using the sound, often partnering videos of baby animals, toddlers, makeup tutorials and retro fashions. According to TikTok, those videos have amassed more than 45.5 billion views, globally. Celebrities like Kylie Jenner, Kim Kardashian and North West have used it, too, with West lip-syncing along to the track.

RIP Malcolm Jamal-Warner. Very sad.

odd it didn’t mention his show Listen Up with Jason Alexander. A play off Kornheiser and Wilbon’s ESPN PTI. One season, but more than those guest appearances

He had a colourful life. Will hunt up and play my old Black Sabbath LP tonight. RIP Ozzy.

I guess he wasn’t kidding about that being the last Black Sabbath show.

The one and only time I intentionally did some rule breaking in high school, my buddy and I called ourselves in sick on the day when Ozzy Osbourne tickets went on sale. We drove about 5 suburbs away to a brick and mortar ticket outlet and bought them within minutes of them going on sale. We got 11th row seats, to see Metallica open for Ozzy. It was one of the last few shows before Cliff Burton died, and it was the second album Ozzy had with Jake Lee.

Ruled suicide. So sad.

Feel a bit sad Hulk Hogan died.

Grew up watching him in Canada. He was a big deal then (90s) alongside the Ultimate Warrior.

Same, I grew up in rural America, we had three channels and watched a lot of wrestling when I was in grade school. Hulk was quite the personality.

WHATCHA GONNA DO WHEN HULKAMANIA RUNS WILD ON YOU!!
