RIP thread

Richard Chamberlain, age 90

I knew him from the TV-movie adaptation of “The Thorn Birds,” but I know that he was known for much bigger roles than that.

He will always be Dr. Kildare to me. RIP Richard.

I remember him from The Count of Monte Cristo. I had to read the book in HS and got that on Video Tape to watch to help me. I was not a very good reader in HS. Basically, it wasn’t until I started reading Tom Clancy novels after college that I became a better reader, especially in the comprehension.

Val was 65 and died of pneumonia. Young.

I also liked his version of Batman. “I can stop you” is a quip I often use.

And had 2 tracheotomies, which left him breathing through a hole in his chest. I would imagine that could complicate a pneumonia bout.

RIP.

I recently saw a FB post, prior to yesterday, that had a picture of him from Top Gun looking fine and one from him now with the poster saying they had to convince their child (assuming teen or maybe young adult) that the pictures were of the same person.

Willow was one of my favourite fantasy movies growing up.

Late 1980s

Madmartegen was great i think he really made that movie. Val having cancer and not being able to reprise the role in the ill fated Disney Willow series a few years ago where probably didn’t help that series much.

Versatile actor. Great talent. Loved him as Jim Morrison in an otherwise meh movie.

Too young to leave us. RIP Val.

Loved his as Jim Morrison, and also Chris Shiherlis in Heat…he was married to Ashley Judd and starred alongside Al Pacino and Robert De Niro back when they still had it!

Willow by far my favorite, one of a few fantasy romances from the 80s that will always be special to me, no matter how old I get.
