Dodgers legend Davey Lopes dead at 80

Parkinson’s. I remember the IF of Garvey-Lopez-Russell-Cey as the Yankee foes in three WS of the 70s and 80s. That IF was together for quite some time.

Angels announce death of MLB legend Garret Anderson at age 53

RIP. Remember him giving the Yankees fits multiple times. Way too young.

Also, earlier this week

Phil Garner, who managed Astros’ first World Series team, dies at 76

Had a memorable 1979 playoff run for the Pirates and pretty nice career.

RIP Bobby Cox

Jays won less than 35% of their games the year before Bobby took over as manager and in four years he took them to 99 wins and first place in their division. For that I will always be grateful.

Then the Braves grabbed him.

RIP Bobby.

Craig Morton - SB starter for two teams

Very solid QB (if not playing for NYG) - Played with some stellar Ds

Posting this not because he was famous but because he was so young. Very sad.

Claude Lemieux dies. On Monday, he carried the torch onto the ice at the Habs playoff game.

Completely forgot about the other Lemieux!

Yeah. The first time I typed the RIP I automatically typed “Mario” rather than “Claude”.

today’s update on cause of death was sad for sure.

Missed this notice earlier.

Our family knew the Hull family but Bobby was the only one I met: they were a rough bunch and my alcoholic uncle was a drinking buddy of their dad
