RIP Amir Abdur Rahim.

With his trajectory in results with teams coached, I think his next job would have been a big one.

He was an amazing coach at USC. RIP

Bela Karolyi long time US Gymnastics coach. Great coaching legacy.

I realize there is a tarnish to that legacy and I don’t remember if anything was proven against him, or was it for not things he did, but possibly ignored. Anyway, further discussion should be taken out of the RIP thread

Would have lost Alive or Dead on this one.

RIP the sweater.

Ricky Henderson, 65. I wonder if Rickey Henderson will give the eulogy at Rickey Henderson’s funeral.

I remember Rickey as the only right-handed batter/left-handed thrower combination in MLB at the time.

I remember Cleon Jones, but they didn’t overlap

It is a very small group and only 8 who made it to 10 years of service to qualify for the MLB pension. Though not sure what the pension system was the two who started in the 20s so might be only 6 who made the full pension.

Henderson probably the only one in the hall, didn’t check the 20s guys.

I would be surprised if any made a 2nd ballot

Looking at the names, I’m guessing that was the most outstanding feature for most of them?

nah, not something someone knows about them, unless you happen to know it.

Cleon Jones was a fan favorite for '69 and '73 Mets. Batted .341 in '69. Good hitter, limited power. Had a top 5 ROY. Top 10 MVP.

I am sure some others here have some fans

Cody Ross was the 2010 NLCS MVP for the Giants WS winning team. I believe he was a waiver claim pickup the Giants were unhappy to get at the time but it did work out for both them and Cody.

I meant to say for MOST of these folks. Will edit now.
