RIP Thread: Sports edition

Or, hoping to switch it with a living teammate.

Yeah thereā€™s been several games where the losing team was on the road and the pitcher(s) only recorded 8 innings but no hits were given up.

I think Hawkins 4-0 loss is the most lopsided no-hit loss though.

David Palmer, 1984 vs. St. Louis.

RIP Howie Schwab from ā€œStump The Schwabā€

That was a fun show, unlike much of the talking heads with outlandish takes that ESPN likes to do now

RIP Roman Gabriel. One of my favourite NFL QBā€™s from the old days.

Jimmy Johnson

Wait, no not Coach Jimmy Johnson, nor that Racing Jimmy Johnson.
HoF Cornerback for the Niners.

ā€œRadarā€'s brother, according to Yahoo!:

Jimmy Johnson, born James Earl, played his college football at UCLA but was also a great track athlete away from the football field, but his brother was even better. Radar won a gold medal in the decathlon in the 1960 Summer Olympics.

and of course that would be Rafer Johnson

Forget retiring jersey numbers. We need to start retiring names. Starting with Jimmy (Jimmie) Johnson

ā€œOh, no, Iā€™m so sorry, the answer is ā€˜Radarā€™.ā€

And who knew, after his stint in Korea in the Army, that heā€™d become an Olympic decathlon champion!

If Radar and Spearchucker had a baby? But I donā€™t think he was a Moop

Sean Burroughs, 43

Kids, donā€™t overdo drugs. You might recover, but the rest of your life is living in a minefield.

NOW you tell me?!?!

Quite unexpected. We might find out later what caused this.

My very first round at The Farms was with Grayson. He was a good kid. He definitely had alcohol demons but my memory of him is a good one. He made 8 birdies and shot 65 despite putting down a dozen drinks (vodka, beer, canned mixed drinks,ā€¦). His power was amazing to watch in person. We had a good match. I was happy to see him get back on track and win in Hawaii this year. Sad news.

All time great. Injuries kept him from maintaining that in NBA
