Supreme court overturns Roe v. Wade

A Florida Republican congresswoman is blaming fearmongering on the left for the reluctance of hospital staff to give her the drugs she needed to end an ectopic pregnancy that threatened her life.

Kat Cammack went to the emergency room in May 2024 where it was estimated she was five weeks into an ectopic pregnancy, there was no heartbeat and her life was at risk. Doctors determined she needed a shot of methotrexate to help expel her pregnancy but since Florida’s six-week abortion ban had just taken effect medical staff were worried about losing their licenses or going to jail if they did.

Cammack looked up the state law on her phone to show staff and even attempted to contact the governor’s office. Hours later, doctors eventually agreed to give her the medication.

I put the Canadian and US charts together and they have similar patterns over the last 100 years. 100-150 years ago was quite different though.

The foreign-born population in Canada is about 50% higher than the US. Post-2025 should be ignored as this chart was produced before the latest surge of immigration was cut back a bit.

The bottom line is that RFK Jr. is a crank and a conspiracy theorist. He does not understand science or medicine, does not understand the idea of risk vs benefit, and has no business being HHS secretary. He’s not even a real lawyer – he was never able to pass the bar exam. He is a self-styled environmental advocate and health guru who has no idea what he is talking about. But he is dangerous. The only real question is how many millions of deaths will he be responsible for. It depends on how much others pick up the slack, replace lost funding, independently provide messaging on vaccines, and try to undermine his undermining.
