I missed the “voters” bit of Twig’s invocation of “Republican voters”.
I think there are a significant number of Republican voters who dislike, or at beast merely tolerate, Trump…but many/most of them still prefer MAGA/Qult candidates over Democrats, on a “perceived lesser evil” basis.
There are also a nontrivial number of voters who have disassociated from the GOP because of Trump and MAGAness, but will potentially rejoin the GOP fold if/when some sanity is restored.
I think Republicans are allowed to be racist towards black, Hispanic, and Asian folks. Jews are off limits though.
I think he could retweet a nazi dog whistle about jews, though it wouldn’t be a popularity boost like mexicans, blacks, muslims, etc.
IMO, it’s less that the jews are sacrosanct and more that they are not very scary.
It doesn’t really make sense to be racist, unless you can sell them as a meaningful threat to the people you’re talking to.
