Republicans Say the Darndest Things!

Should we give him any credit for deleting it?

Nope. It’s what he believes and said it (in a tweet) out loud.
Essentially, since the government won’t suspend the Constitution, it is therefore up to the people, and, ergo, this is Trump (and Gosar) fomenting an insurrection, again.

That seems like exactly the type of hypothetical that I do think the SCOTUS should be willing to rule on in advance of an actual incident. If Woolworth isn’t letting POCs sit at their counter, why force the process of sit-ins and arrests and such? Wouldn’t it be better for everyone to figure out the legality before going through the drama?

If there were, say, three hypothetical things to rule on every year, sure.
Hypothetical scenarios can be infinity many.
So, logistics are the issue.

Delete.
Repeat.

Gosar spokesman Anthony Foti told Insider’s Bryan Metzger that bad-faith actors and “low IQ people” had misread the tweet, prompting the Arizona lawmaker to delete the tweet.

Maybe he can retweet something that represents his true views that won’t be misread by bad-faith actors and low IQ people.

“Oh, shit, they think I mean for them to storm the Capitol again!!”
“(I mean, I do, but I’ll be wearing a cowboy hat, so don’t hang me.”)

And correctly called him “the former President” right off the bat. If he was consistent it would have been “the legitimate current President” or something. This guy is simply an idiot. Put him in the landfill with Herschel Walker.

Not surprising at all.

I do feel bad for AZ voters (weird to say that outloud), as she has not been the person they elected

Sinema becoming an “independent”

Still better than the alternative - but, yes, disappointing.

The first twitter response to the Sinema tweet was pretty funny - “Damn, Republicans lost another seat…”.

Btw, this is appearing everywhere as news today. Didn’t she announce this well before the recent election? Is this really just hyping the interview or was there really news?

I thought it was a new announcement. Ultimately she’s playing chicken with the Democratic party. She was going to get primaried next election and almost certainly lose. Now if the Dems run a candidate there will be a 3-way general election splitting the center-left voters; given the tight results in Arizona that would basically hand the seat to the Republicans.

I’m not so sure about that. She has a 5% favorable rating among the Democrats in AZ. I am not sure she would pull too many Democrats, maybe more Republicans?

There are a lot of voters that aren’t D or R. And she would just need to steal a few percent from the D candidate to make it an R win.

Aren’t most Congress Critters unpopular though? For comparison purposes, what is a typical favorability rating from one’s party?

Also, what is your source for 5%?

Um, no.
This is a weird thought.
Congress critters are most at a very high approval rating for their own party and constituents.
That is how they get elected.

Yeah, I’ve always seen that people have a low approval of Congress in general but like their particular congressperson.

Where can you see the stats for approval ratings among their constituents by party?

I always assumed that most people were holding their noses when they voted for their Senators & Representative and picking the least bad option. They’re all pretty slimy IMO, including all 3 of mine. But maybe I am unique in thinking that.

Rep. Nehls: “I find the timing of this interesting. We pass this Marriage Equality Act & it’s interesting Britney Griner comes home that day. You want to get Paul Whelan home, Joe Biden - why don’t you call Donald Trump. He’ll get Whelan home, and he’ll have him home in a week.”
