Why didn’t that embed?

He posted the “Permanent link to this comic”. Here’s the Image URL (for hotlinking/embedding):

Just copying and posting the link from the search bar is the best way - it gives you the alt text.

I thought the “permanent link to comic” did the same thing. Not sure why it wouldn’t have this time.

If you say so, sir.

totally not random, and a few of you might already know this, but I write an Extremely Bad Advice blog. This most recent one is relevant to career interests (warning - NSFW):

Very little of that qualified as “Extremely Bad”…probably just the part about stopping by the boss’s desk on your way out…because it’s the poor night-cleaning-crew that gets paid “minimum” wage that will have to deal with that $#!t …literally!

I am on tray 35 of 38 in my Invisalign treatment, and today I realized that I have not thrown out a single set of trays. What was I planning to do with 34 old, used trays?? It makes sense to hold onto the last set, in case your current set gets lost or damaged early in the week, but I guess I never got around to throwing any of them out and now I’m feeling like a hoarder.

Agree that very little of that is bad advice.

I think you DO still need to give two weeks notice though. If you don’t that can get you flagged as “not eligible for rehire”, and that is one of the extremely few things that future employers can ask about.

Also, I believe that they are legally obligated to pay out accrued and unused vacation/PTO if you give notice, but no such legal obligation exists if you don’t. Plus it’s just standard practice.

But 40 days when he had another job lined up? No freaking way.

I am taking a 3.5-hour one way greyhound bus trip in two weeks. I have heard horror stories about the terminal I am leaving from (local to me) but I’m not too worried about the actual process. Maybe I should be?

I haven’t ridden Greyhound since my college days.

It’s not exactly first class transportation & P(encounter with the dregs of society|Greyhound) > P(encounter with the dregs of society|Spirit), but not by much.

The good news is you don’t have to go through security. The bad news is neither does anybody else.

There’s always a crazy person on the bus. Be that person and all will be fine.

PTO payouts are based upon the state you work in. My state has no such laws and my company grants PTO, it is not earned, therefore they never have to pay it out. Unused PTO is just lost if you are fired or quit. Additionally, they limit annual carryover to 40 hours and any excess is lost. I know that this is not the case for California and the company does have to payout PTO there. The exception is if you purchased additional PTO as that must be refunded. However, the company makes very clear that purchased PTO is the first PTO that is used.

TIL about tonsil stones. That was a rabbit hole I wish I could un-burrow.

I don’t have tonsils, so this has never been a problem for me.

I somehow found out what they were and have produced some. They are gross. Fortunately small when I had them. But yuck
