My uncle just posted to Facebook a death notice of someone with the same name as he has who is married to someone with the same name as my aunt, his wife.

These things are bound to happen when your name is John & wife’s name Jane. RIP, Mr. Doe.

You should definitely test that theory.

more likely interaction is the dudes on the pill who go past 4 hrs…

This one’s for you and Dr. JFGW!!!

Dr. Glaucomflecken is a favorite.

Yup my dad’s name is John and his last name is fairly common.

My last name is also common but my first name is not & there is still another Mr & Mrs aj in town.

My husband is the only person in the world with his first and last name (his last name is not very common, and his first name is ridiculous), which unfortunately for him makes him very easy to stalk online. So I’m certain we are the only couple with our names out there.

Aristophanes?

I was looking at the website for a brewpub nearby that has really good food. They had a button that asked for investors in the brewery, so I clicked on it. The short description is that they want to improve the patio and add some equipment, and they’ll pay 13% over 5 years. It’s a loan rather than equity. I decided to read the prospectus. Any restaurant investment is risky of course, but this one seems very poor. They had a huge increase in revenue in 2022, but produced a huge loss. They have high interest debt to a few parties, plus a big SBA loan that isn’t at a bad rate. Seems they are already borrowing for working capital, and a decent chunk of this offering is actually for working capital. I understand that opening this place in the pandemic ate some of their working capital, but looks like bottom line is worse post pandemic and they are increasing borrowing at high interest rates.

I like these guys and will patronize them more as it seems they need the business, but no chance on a loan from me. I’m guessing most of the “investors” like the place and either didn’t bother to read the prospectus or don’t understand looking at financial statements.

My son is almost 8, and this is the first time he has been to fireworks. We had planned to go in 2019, when he was 3, but he got sick. And we didn’t go in 2020-2022 because pandemic. He was too young before 2019.

He has a lot of sensory issues and wasn’t sure how he would like it, but he got used to the noise after the first few and did well. He’s already planning next year’s…which fortunately will be on the first night before a long weekend, rather than the last night of one. Going to work tomorrow will be rough.

didn’t go watch, but the stories somehow triggered a memory of at least 10 years ago, when we went with another family and sat very close to the launch site, like right behind the limit rope. However, a breeze kicked up just before the festivities started, and it turned out we were downwind. Debris rained down on us fairly regularly throughout the show. We kept saying “I just got ashed on!” 'twas a good night.

I went to a fireworks show where they were exploding very closely overhead and debris was raining down, sometimes still smoking. We talked briefly about whether we were safe there. Minutes later the nearby beer tent burst into flames!
