The Houston Texans should have called themselves the Eulers.
Their logo could have been…

Some day i want to hear a ref announce, “There is no foul for intentional grounding. It was just a really poor throw.”
Credit to my wife for coming up with this first: These “Battle Red” Texans uniforms look like “college colors”.
Funniest intentional grounding call I saw was where the qb thought the receiver was going to run a deep corner route but the receiver cut it off a lot shorter and ran an out. The ball was thrown about the time the receiver made his cut so there wasn’t anyone within 15 or 20 or more yards of where the ball landed. It didn’t look like there was that much pressure on the qb and the qb was in the pocket so they called it. The qb, coach and receiver couldn’t believe it and protested greatly to no effect.
The 2nd assist in hockey should only be awarded if you did something in the buildup that clearly had an impact on the goal being scored.
If you merely flipped the puck over to a teammate in your defensive zone and they went charging up the ice and drew 2 defenders before they laid it off to another teammate who ripped the puck into the net, your “contribution” of giving the 1st guy the puck isn’t worthy of an assist. Same for “everyone’s passing the puck around” and you’re the 2nd-to-last guy to pass the puck. Because you happened to be 2nd-to-last in line doesn’t merit giving you a participation point.
Eh. Count them different if you want. Heck, create third 4th, 5th assist, and weight them how you want.
old man yells at cloud. been that way since the Great One (at least)
I don’t have the file in front of me, but I’ve got a file that shows how the number of assists per goal trended up for a while in the 70s and especially the 80s and 90s. I get that it happens, I’m just saying that it shouldn’t happen and that there’s a number of cheap assists in the statistics and I suspect some of that was stat padding that’s now embedded in the process.
I read that an assist would be given to a player last to touch the puck before a give-and-go goal. Player A passes to Player B then a give-and-go with Player C. Player B scores, A and C get assists.
If you ever need a reminder of what having no hope looks like, just look at Chicago. All of it.
Can not believe that 70,000 people would pay big bucks to attend the Tyson-Paul boxing match nor that 60 million households would watch it! I quit watching boxing after Clay/Ali retired so did not tune in.
no desire to watch it, assume I can see it on Netflix. I stayed with boxing through Tyson.
Love the middleweights of the 80s.
Lewis seems to have some respect, though I was pretty much done by then
I also saw it was on YouTube too.
I had it up on my computer solely because I was expecting to see a train wreck. I watched a little bit of one of the undercard fights. The announcers were unbearable. I then muted that tab with the intention of checking in every now and then for the main event. I got lost somewhere in the ether of the internet and forgot to do that. Finally, I had An ”oh, yeah” moment and checked in. For whatever reason, amazons stream paused, so I was able to find the beginning of the main fight and watch from there, fast forwarding through the between-round-intermissions. The first round of the fight was “interesting” . The others were
. The announcers were unbearable. I think that, with my fast forwarding, I caught up to the live action just as the “winner” was announced. I certainly wouldn’t have paid to watch it if I didn’t already have Netflix courtesy of T-Mobile.
I ended up watching because my buddy invited people over. Just a good excuse to get together and drink some beers.
I’m not into boxing. At all. But I enjoyed the two undercard fights I saw. Two Mexican guys absolutely destroying each other, then gave each other a big hug afterward. Pretty wholesome actually. The lady fight was gruesome with the Puerto Rican getting a giant cut over her eye early on. Can’t believe they gave the win to the Irish gal.
The main event was a predictable bore. Did get to see Tyson’s butt, so there’s that. ![]()
same tattoos as his face?
This. They hyped it so much on the radio that BF and I were curious and he has Netflix, so no incremental cost. We tuned in around 10:30 PM, which was in time to see the “co-main event”.
I wouldn’t have spent the dough to watch it on pay-per-view or anything.
No, different ones.
(No, actually I don’t remember there being tattoos at all, but I don’t care to have “Mike Tyson’s butt” in my search history to check my memory. I’m sure you can Google for yourself if you really want to see.)
I was at a friend’s playing poker and watched between hands. The Mexican men welterweight fight and the women fight was something to watch!
The women’s fight was fantastic. The last 4 rounds were them going toe-to-toe slugging each other, but both of them were so tired they didn’t have enough strength to knock the other down. That said, if you ever wanted to argue that boxing wasn’t fixed, that final verdict was a steel pipe repeatedly to your kneecaps.
