Mini Me had a Girl Scout cookie booth in a mall in the spring.
About 2 days ago . . . got in 2 laps of exercise.
Who decided that nine minutes is the optimal snooze time for alarms?
If you know your 9s tables (which I will grant you a lot of people donât) it allows you to easily see how many times you hit the snooze button, assuming you set it for a time ending in 0⌠which most of us do.
Time ends in a 7⌠youâve hit the snooze 3 times.
Time ends in a 9⌠youâve only hit it once. (Or 11 times but even in a groggy state you probably have a feel for whether itâs been 1 or 11 times.)
9s table is most conducive to that. And itâs been around since a time when more people knew their 9s tables than today.
If Iâm hitting the snooze bar, no math for me. I just look at the time and decide if I should get up, or if I have nine more minutes.
Times when I have to get up earlier than normal I might not remember why I have to be up early.
But if I see that Iâve already hit snooze twice then I might think to myself âwhy is my alarm going off at 6:30 anywayâ and I might check my calendar.
I canât rely on my brain saying â7:15⌠time to get upâ.
I mean, I often set the alarm on the quarter hour so itâs 4âs 3âs and 2âs.
If I have to leave early I will set the alarm for 6:05 or some other time that I wouldnât usually do.
I RSVPâd for an event that takes place tomorrow. I recently caught a cold, but am feeling a little better and think I would otherwise attend. I donât want to be a germ spreader, but also donât want to no show for something where they are providing food/drink.
Should I attend as is, attend masked up, or bail out?
Attend. If youâre at risk of being sneezy or coughy then take cold medicine to reduce the likelihood of coughing / sneezing.
If youâre still feeling lousy tomorrow mask up when not eating.
Based on your description, this would be my vote. Like some wise poster posted a while ago, one good thing to come out of COVID-19 is that it (somewhat) normalized mask wearing.
I have not been sneezing or coughing. Only symptoms so far are postnasal drip and sore throat, which is a little better today than yesterday. It also is much worse when I wake up. I feel close to normal at the moment.
Sounds like a good antihistamine would be beneficial.
I take antihistamines daily due to allergies. Zyrtec+Flonase have been my daily regimen for years.
It was @dothemath âŚ
Naw, I donât think this post of Lucyâs was first either, but itâs 1.5 years earlier than the one you quoted.
Itâs something weâve been discussing for a while.
What is it with Putin and defenstration? Canât they come up with some new material?
Like planes falling out of the sky?
Two of my posts from 2021 got likes by two different people, 10 minutes apart. Whatâs going on?
CHALLENGE: ACCEPTED!
I like things in threads I read from the top hence why I was hitting the like limits lately.
