Can we spike the water on Capitol Hill and at the White House complex with molly?

A post on /r/UIUC introduced me to this article:

So, with the US having been drop-kicked out of its former position of global hegemon, inquiring minds wonder what entity, if any, will step into that position.

Is it Beijing’s turn, or will the EU be stepping up for a bit?

My money is on China.

Whenever Trump does or says something I think “What would Putin want?” they never fail to align. Now that the US has self sanctioned it’s like a comedy skit with Putin holding a phone with his hand over the mouth piece as his advisors call out silly things. Then Putin saying into the phone “Hey little Donny you should…”

Not sure where to put this, so I decree it “random”

Based on what happened with tariffs last time, I think it’s going to be a good summer to enjoy smoking and grilling. I expect lower prices on pork, beef, and chicken as supply increases due to reduced exports. We might see demand decreases too due to tighter budgets. Big charcoal producers are generally domestic. Fire up the grill!

There are many things I don’t understand about the Maab. (i.e. the MA_A crowd). But in particular, what is the bug up the MAHA crowd’s butt about seed oils being basically the same thing as nuclear waste?

(as I pop cashews writing this thought)

Keep in mind that a vax skeptic is promoting the campaign against seed oil.

That being said…

So the short answer seems to be basically “the jury’s still out, but moderation is fine for now.”

I am guessing it is not as bad as 1990s margarine or HFCS, but as a cheaper alternative to what it was intended to replace is probably belongs in the same category.

Sovcits have been a thing for a LONG time. Militias often form from groups of sovcits or at least attract them.

They have a deep and wide history of the ways that they can “get away” with not obeying the laws of the nation in which they are “traveling, not residing”. Like any vague conspiracy theory, there are a lot of flavors, similar to the Illuminati/New World Order/Freemasons. “Getting away” with it is all in theory, in practice not so much.

Why don’t you ever hear protests about trans men competing in sports? So weird.

I’m aware of more trans men who have competed in D1 swimming as men than of trans women. People never believe me when I say that. Or assume that they must have finished last, although one guy was top 15% nationally which is pretty far from last.

It seems nuts to me that “Libertarians” are lining up not only to support Trump but to kiss his ass. Authoritarianism is diametrically opposed to Libertarianism.

In a libertarian forum I lurk on, it seems to be roughly an even 3-way split:

  • Folks who voted for Trump because Harris was going to continue the descent to communism/socialism, and his promises of deregulation, getting out of the Israel-Gaza and Ukraine wars and doing something about immigration offset his other failings…but now that the wars are getting worse, and he’s gone crazy with tariffs…
  • Folks who knew that Trump was an authoritarian saying “told you so!” and/or reciting the observation that, to a libertarian, D’s and R’s are equally problematic
  • Folks who claim to be “libertarian” as cover for some pretty ugly beliefs, who are mostly OK with Dear Leader.

This seems to be increasingly common: “I’m Libertarian because I believe in the freedom to enforce my particular religious and cultural beliefs on everyone”

My aunt is a gem. She’s been writing daily letters to several of her MAGA Congresspeople and continuing to chalk the local office sidewalks.
