To my knowledge, I do not have any Native American ancestry. My parents have posited several European national origins.

My dad was 1/8 native american heritage, or possibly 3/16 based on some recent research by a distant cousin. Some of the distant cousins have really embraced their heritage. Not sure how much that is a rediscovery, or whether they were raised that way. It wasn’t a part of my dad’s growing up, nor mine, other than knowing about my ancestors.

My wife stopped talking to him when she was 16. I run into him from time to time when visiting my hometown.

My aunt’s done a family tree way back. Nothing but poor British dirt farmers all the way back.

Something commemorating a major historical event like

Waterloo
Defeat of Spanish armada
If your family was there at the time, the Blitz during WW2

Funny how my education centered around North Europe when I don’t have one drop of Northern European DNA… I checked.
