I first heard of some P&C carriers accepting credit card payments about 30 years ago. Some states had laws requiring that insurers only take cash. Are such laws still enforced anywhere?
I pay my home and auto premium via credit card monthly, same as cash/debit. Do most P&C companies accept credit cards? Do any of them charge extra for it?
Most will accept I feel certain. Laws around surcharging (or passing through CC company surcharges) vary by state, with some only very recently allowing it.
I have had some companies that insisted on transfer from my checking while others allowed cc w/surcharge and still others that allowed cc w/o a surcharge.
I pay my P&C premiums via cc. The CC is issued through their affiliate bank, but I could pay with any.
One minor recent annoyance: they slightly overbilled me for something recently. Instead of just crediting the amount back, they mailed me a paper check.
