Internet memes are not laws, and the right has been scaring the country with relaxing actual gun laws for decades.
The right using something like that as an excuse to run away from the conversation is part of the problem.

Is this still the political humor thread?
An asset of Russia should determine US weapons policy?
If you or Ranger thought I was seriously suggesting that the second amendment does not protect bullets because they were invented later, you were, perhaps reasonably, misinterpreting my intent. That said, I do support restrictions on citizens bearing arms, which does not imply I support restrictions on free speech.
And I’m not sure how much of my frustration over guns is with the courts and how much with the legislatures. Presumably the courts would allow more restrictions, as have been enacted in some states, if Congress and other state legislatures would pass them.
imo, the right to bear arms, does not include any armament ever created. {can get into a much deeper discussion of militia and original intent, but that complicates things and too many people don’t or refuse to see that} The same as the right to free speech does not include speech that could cause harm (such as fire in the theater). All freedoms have some limits, usually ending at another person safety and well being.
Anyone who sees the bullet joke as anything more than reductio ad absurdum is either disingenuous or lacks any understanding of sarcasm
I’ve made numerous posts in this thread. Which one(s) suggests I don’t think the 1st amendment should protect TV, radio and the internet? One can be extremely negative about Fox News without saying it should not be allowed.
The same one that I picked on. If (according to your meme) the 2nd amendment doesn’t protect a person’s right to use stuff that hadn’t been invented at the time of its ratification, why would the 1st be any different?
twig supplied the correct answer to your question, but I didn’t want you to think that I left you hanging.
I recognize a meme to be a meme.
I also recognize SW’s comments about the meme to be SW’s comments about the meme.
We can wish courts would see it that way.
I don’t know if you are aware that flame throwers haver uses other than incinerating people.
I was making a joke around the notion that it was uncertain whether the US had used flamethrowers in war.
That said, I know the NRA supports banning bump stocks and I don’t know their logic for that.
I looked up their thoughts on bumpstocks.
This week, the Department of Justice announced that it would soon be releasing a final rule classifying “bump-stock-type-devices” as “machineguns” under the National Firearms Act.
What I learned is: f*** the NRA.
…it’s important to remember that we will soon face a hostile, anti-gun Congress led by Nancy Pelosi. It’s critical that all gun owners unite and prevent the Bloomberg-bought Congress from dismantling our Second Amendment freedom.
The current gun control legislation will require 10 R senators, several who have received millions from the NRA.
What is required to make the militia well regulated?
You have to seek prior approval to use arms through a filing made via SERFF?
I do not think a super PAC that campaigns for an industry that benefits financially from every well publicized mass shooting incident is a good place to look for guidance on limiting mass shootings.
We talking Washington objections or Missouri objections?
ETA: I just noticed the first picture is Jackson. From the hair, plus known lying (but less serious lies than Reagan or Nixon, in the opinion of many), I had thought it was Clinton. I don’t even remember Jackson’s lies. To the surprise of some of you, that was before my time.
Medicare does not pay for Viagra or Cialis for ED.
But generic ED meds are covered, which is really the point.
Didn’t know that, thanks.
Also, I responded to Whiskey 24 days ago when he pointed out that it’s not always covered.
