First version is probably more accurate. The Legislative branch has been voluntarily ceding power to the other two branches for at least a couple of decades.
Hm. Between making a mockery of the impeachment process and proposing term limits for the judiciary branch but still not for their own, I had the impression that they were voluntarily taking power. 
Well members of the Senate refusing to judge Trump on the merits of the case against him is certainly ceding power.
I hadn’t heard about term limits for the judiciary other than the SCOTUS.

The Nazis in 1930’s Germany never had the popular vote share the Republicans did in 2024. AfD is still a minority party too. So not quite 1930’s in Germany.
1932 - Socialist 37% of the vote,
German Turnout around 84% of the population = 31% eligible voters
2024 - 50% vote - 64% turnout = 32% eligible voters
seems pretty close
