Canada is ~12% of the size of the US market…Hannity and Carlson are both worth ~300M. Seems like an opportunity for the right personality to make an easy 35M in Canada.
A news network patterned on Fox News set up in Canada a few years back and it went bust very quickly. Not only is Canada a smaller market relative to the US but the percentage of people within Canada interested in this messaging is smaller than in the US. And those folks here can just tune into Fox News anyway.
Just because you aren’t there now doesn’t mean you are safe. Who would have thought 2015 Trump would have gone as far as he did?

Canada’s a lot more urbanized than the US. It has similar urbanized levels to Australia.
In Australia, there’s a substantial percentage of MAGA types away from the main cities (my dad would vote for Trump if he could. Hey, maybe that’s how Trump could get extra votes) but the people not living in the five main cities (each with at least 1M in population) only provide a small percentage of the population.
Urban rates per google: US: 82%, CAN: 80%, AUS: 86%.
The US has a lot of small towns that are “not rural” but politically right leaning.
My mistake, you are correct. I was thinking more of percentage of those living in MSAs > 1M. Australia is quite a bit higher (61% compared to US at 47%) but Canada is still lower (45%). Canada is less citified than I thought.
It is interesting how large Australia’s and Canada’s two largest cities are relative to their respective countries’ total populations.
Greater Sydney and Greater Melbourne each have over 5 million population versus about 26 million total Australia population.
Greater Toronto and Greater Montreal combined also have over 10 million people compared to Canada’s total population of 40 million.
I am a bit surprised at all the metrics. For some reason I had Toronto at like a third of the population of Canada, but that must have been Ontario total.
I was in Kelowna back in June and saw multiple anti-Trudeau protests from overpasses. While in Alberta saw a few F*ck Trudeau bumper stickers.
The Conservative Party of Canada has been complaining about Trudeau wasting money going on some sort of retreat at the lavish and swanky Holiday Inn Sudbury. Many have been mocking the claim that the Holiday Inn Sudbury is “lavish and swanky”.

Sudbury is also the town used in the Hulu(?) series Shoresy and it is claimed the city has an impossible number of hot women
