I guess the 65-68% of Americans who support the Green New Deal are also nutty. If so I’m happy to be considered a nut. But we’ve diverged enough from politic humor so I’ll drop it.
It’s been a while since I looked at the GND, but from what I recall, the core ideas were not all that nutty. It was more that it would have been more expensive than the politics would support, and possibly not move the needle much when you consider it only changes things in the US and we need world objectives.
I am OK with politicians discussing policies with actual objectives that we think are good, even if they are unrealistic to implement now, as maybe they lead to areas of focus.
MTG and Gaetz do not offer much of anything to debate. They just carry around buckets for liberal tears and see who can fill them up the fastest to get a pat on the back from MAGA.
Talib and Omar seem like they have said some controversial things that they both backed away from to some extent. Maybe they are a closer equivalent to MTG, but saying controversial things does not seem to be their purpose, so I still think no.
I dont think you can both sides MAGA in any way. Trump has turned many pre-MAGA politicians into idiots. You are comparing features against bugs to try and bothsides this.
Also the polling I see ranges from 30% - 60% supporting it, with the left-leaning pollsters posting higher numbers and the right-leaning pollsters posting lower numbers. I admittedly spent very little time fact-checking, but 65-68% seems high for “supports Green New Deal”. More plausible if that’s Dems or liberals only or if it’s something more nuanced like “concerned about climate change” which is not at all the same thing.
I am concerned about climate change but think most of the specific proposals in the Green New Deal are bad.
There is a teacher on TikTok who is making videos correcting, with explanations, the grammar of right wing social media posts. The videos are pretty hilarious. E.g., TikTok - Make Your Day or TikTok - Make Your Day
