PC issue

I figure you folks know what’s up.
Home PC (not work). I can sign in (each person has their own), but before it gets to the Display, the mouse stops working and the keyboard stops working.
Also, the time and date seem to be stuck at yesterday when it last was “alive.”
Turned it off for a few hours today, but same issue.

Will get a new PC soon enough, but need the files from this. No I have not backed up in a few months. If this cannot be fixed (motherboard? GPU? CPU? RAM? BBQ?), I figure I can take out the hard drive then get that saved somehow. Maybe.

Ok, got on my wife’s login, running perfmon /report .
Let’s see what it does.
Else, I’ll run Norton for virus and cache.

OK, ran that perfom /report.
Not sure what it did. It did require a restart.
Got Norton to run, doing de-fraggle rock right now.

All i got from that was that you share a pc with your spouse.

I could never.

Well, it is 10 years old.
She already has her own laptop.

Worst-case scenario:
There are “computer geek” shops around that have the tools/expertise to extract files from a “damaged” HD and put them on a flash drive or a cloud location. Might run $50-100 depending on location and ethics.

Best Buy Geek Squad should be near by (I think they’re pretty much in most cities with at least 100k population; we have on in my town of around 85k).
