News that makes you say WTF?!?!

Good Lord.

Yup. Also, sitting down for food is the same way. Want a nice Blue Bayou meal next to the Pirates of The Caribbean attraction? Better set that up before you go. Maybe a heart-clogging Monte Cristo sandwich at the Cafe Orleans? Same thing. Oh, you could go to a food line and get blah food.

Or, make one at home and call 911 afterward.

Not sure if I’ll ever go again. My back no longer likes the rides that I thought I liked.

This sounds like the opposite of fun.

Well, you set that up beforehand so MiMe has the fun.
My wife and I went to Disneyland without the kids more often than we did with the kids. Being the Director of Fun is not fun.
And, trust me WDW requires WAAAAY more planning. You have to plan which day you will go to which park, where to eat at each park, when the early “Magic Mornings” are, when the firesworks are, etc.

Yeah, doesn’t sound like it.

Also I can see Mini Me declaring “I want a cheeeeeeeessssseeeeeburger” on the day we have reservations for the Italian place or whatever.

My approach was suck it up, eat fast food in the park, and get your fine dining experience elsewhere. When they were HS age and younger my kids weren’t as much foodies as they are today so this wasn’t a problem.

Better set that (28 days before you go) at least that’s the lead time on reservations that I recall, the exact date might be different but for certain places like the Blue Bayou, I suggest logging on to your Disney dining app on the first day possible before your day in the park. Other places you might be able to get a reservation day of as there is sometime a few cancellations, but I wouldn’t suggest counting on that.

I have a similar approach when traveling to a foreign city. My SO says “wouldn’t it be great to eat at one of these restaurants with the amazing view?”. Most of the time the answer is “Nope. The food is crap and overpriced. How about we go to a restaurant renowned for its food and then finish up with a drink at one of these places with an amazing view”.

If you ever go to Sydney, just about all the restaurants with great views have crappy, overpriced food.

Whenever I goto Phoenix I find new Mexican food trucks. Always amazing.

I just got back 8/26/2024. I stayed in Disney Springs and didn’t go to any of the other parks. For a 4 day/night long weekend I enjoyed it. It was certainly Disney-lite. Uncrowded pools, great food, some fun shows at each of the bigger restaurants, didn’t have to pay to be in the park besides food and drinks.

I guess the scan in/scan out didn’t help much. Police were called Tuesday afternoon? WOW!

Reminds me of that joke/meme…punchline: ”Don’t work too hard. Nobody notices anyway.”

“‘Inspirational’ Work Poster” Quote?
Internet says, “Don’t work too hard. Nobody notices until you die.”

It’s a fake story from a while ago…

As a grandparent, this takes the WTF prize, imo.

I thought you were going to say, “WITH her grandmother.” Which I think would have been a little better.

If I had a crying grandchild with me and couldn’t get them to stop, I might consider locking us in a bathroom for the remainder of the flight if that would help the other passengers.

Nah, that’s not safe, they should be buckled in. Kids cry, other people can deal for a bit, it’s a risk everyone knows about when they buy a plane ticket.
