I think there’s probably at least a 40% chance that he will be impeached at least once in 2027 or 2028…but there’s no realistic way that he’d be convicted.
I’m amused by claims ICE shutdown an hotline for reporting illegal immigrants because 90% of the reports were for Elon Musk.

Instead it’s something like “A salute similar in appearance to a Nazi salute” or “what some detractors are calling a Nazi salute” or “seemingly imitating Elon Musk’s salute”.

The majority of US states have anti-SLAPP statues now. These suits would get run out of court quickly in most jurisdictions, and perhaps anti-SLAPP actions taken.

FBI officers who investigated Trump and Jan. 6th are being fired.
IIRC, I don’t think you can fire FBI agents like that from a legal standpoint.
The political appintments…sure, but the career ones would need an actual reason beyond we don’t like that you did your job before given that there was no unprofessional conduct.
Surely, there will be consequences.

FBI agents (the career ones) do not serve at the pleasure of the President.
The Director of the FBI does (political appt), so Trump can appoint say Patel to such a position, and he can then try to fire them.
But at that point, you would have to document the reason and their current one is simply not going to work.
Only way I see this working is if they implement their Schedule F workaround (at that point they would be able to fire even federal career employees like FBI agents).
So he fires them anyway ignoring the rules. If the current acting FBI director doesn’t do it, he’ll fire him and find someone willing to do his bidding. The sole reason is that he wants only Trump sycophants in every government position.
Yes, this sounds like banana republic shit - but, we’re veering toward being a banana republic, so … I wonder if there’s a point where the top echelons of the military say “you know what, we’re not doing this” and organize a coup against the U.S. government.
I want to say “no” because if it failed, it would be handled as treason and Trump / Musk would instantly turn this country into Nazi Germany. And, the U.S. military has been trained that it follows orders from the President, full stop. But part of me thinks there’s going to be something that happens that gets someone in the military to at least initially not follow and if / when that happens, I wonder how other leaders in the military react.
I think Trump is hoping for large protests where he can order the military to rough people up. He wanted to do that before and they shut him down. I don’t think he will get the same level of resistance from his advisors this time around.
