What is this called, and how do you type it? I had to copy and paste in order to enter it into this message.

Mathematically, the symbol is for ordered sets saying that one element “succeeds or equals” another in the ordered set.

In terms of risks and Mildenhall, the author defines this on pg. 55 (3.6.1) as comparing the “risk preference” between two risks.

“We write X ⪰ Y if the risk X is preferred to Y”

On an exam, I’d just write it out “X risk is preferred to Y risk”
