I have Outlook at work
I used to be able to access it on my personal phone
Unless i drop $800 on a new phone, it is not fixable
Maybe a company phone, but we will see.
Anyway, don’t really care if i can read emails in my personal time, screw them.
But i can’t access the calendar from my phone and that is annoying.
I have google on phone and my personal PC. I can also access my work Outlook from my personal PC. (morons, it has less security than my phone).
Anyway any easy way to merge my calendars? or do i need to manually load my google calendar?
That reminds me of how I felt like an idiot recently when I was complaining to a coworker about my company blocking email over the guest wifi network. The coworker said “Turn off wifi”. Duh.
I use a utility named “gSyncIt” to synchronize my personal installation of Outlook and Google.
To sync personal and work Outlook calendars, I resort to sending myself invitations from one account to the other, with a VBA macro set up to facilitate the process without running afoul of corporate data security paranoia.
That doesn’t work when you’re trying to schedule doctors’ appointments for yourself or your family members, or when one’s spouse is trying to make plans, or…
It’s a not uncommon experience for me to be standing at the check-out desk of a doctor’s office trying to book a follow-up appointment in n weeks…and there’s no way in hell I’m going to remember how various recurring meetings are going to align with the dates/times being proposed.
I need to be able to see my calendar, in one place, with minimal effort to access it, and preferably without concern that an archive of past appointments/calendar items won’t fall victim to corporate records retention time limits, or falling victim to a future surprise RIF.
It wasn’t too bad back in the days when I could connect my PIM utility of choice on my phone to the corporate Exchange server. However, now that phone access is restricted to the Outlook app, which is locked within a separate work profile that requires a little bit of effort to get into (and where the calendar display sucks), I just send invites between my work and personal accounts.
