The void got his cone off today after 7 days in. He’s being subjected to ball inspection every few hours to make sure he’s not tearing up the incision, but seems very happy to groom himself.

We’ve also righted the cat trees that were laying down, as he wasn’t supposed to climb/jump to the extent we could avoid it, so he’s enjoying watching the birbs.

He had just started to get the hang of eating and drinking without a huge mess, and had the cutest butt wobble-walk to counteract the motion of the cone.

I have video of this but have decided against breaking pseudonymity to post it.

Anyway, we have trained our youngest ~6 m/o to leap into my arms. He did it first when I had hoodie stings on, his favorite thing. Leapt at me… Put him down, encouraged him again, rewarded it. Now he frequently does it on command, so long as he isn’t distracted by a toy, a new person, wanting food. But I can tell when his eyes dilate, he’s all for it. And frequently I can encourage him to do it anytime.

It’s the cutest effing thing. So far he has only tried it twice while I wasn’t paying attention, once I juked him without thinking and once I surprise-caught him. He hasn’t attempted while I don’t have a shirt on yet, thankfully.

Edit: And he just did it before work  My little void. He’s only 5 pounds, we’ll see how cute when 10 pounds.

The cat is eating better and doing better with his pill. He had another projectile vomiting session overnight and there’s a big mess to clean up.

We sleep with our door open for that very reason. Otherwise the cat would paw at it.

We usually keep it open now, but for several years one of the cats was banned from the bedroom at night. He’d wake up in the wee hours and throw stuff off the nightstand to get attention. He’s mellowed now that he’s older so he doesn’t do that anymore.

Locking the cat out of a room, especially a bedroom, that we’re in generally results in shredded carpet next to the closed door.

My second-favorite part of our (now 7 month) kitten is when he gets zoomies and runs down the hall.

Goober runs so hard he grunts, “row row row row row” and often gets too zoomy on the hardwood and crashes into the end of the hallway before disappearing into a room.

Favorite is still his leap into my arms. Helps if I have hoodie strings to mesmerize him but as long as he’s not distracted by food, a new person, etc. he will jump up to be caught on command

Related to the same trick, the way he hangs out as my fur scarf when studying/working, without me even asking he just came and jumped up onto my shoulders and is napping on my neck.

We got back from vacation yesterday. We’ve been gone for most of the last 2 weeks. I guess one of the cats must have especially missed me, as she burrowed under the covers and curled up pressing against me for most of the night last night. She has never done that before

She often curls up against my knees on top of the covers, but this was a new behavior

We read to the little one every night. She seems to like Garfield a lot.

This is our youngest cat (Angelina) who is now very attached to the little one.

Cat #4 is officially a killer. Small bunny from somewhere around here.

Took longer than I expected for him to record a kill, but now I expect carcasses to show up much more frequently.

:grimacing:

I saw an adorable bunny outside today. Hope it’s safe from house cats!

Also saw a bunny outside tonight. Tried to jump at it to scare it off and it sort of sneered at me. I hope it doesn’t trash my lawn too bad creating the warren.
