At bedtime last night, she was asking to make “second dinner” a recurring thing, and she woke me up 90 minutes before my usual alarm time this morning demanding breakfast.
I think it might be time to take her off the appetite stimulant.
That’s great. Maybe time to take her off, but maybe time to fatten her up a little bit as it’s hard to add weight to older pets
This cat likes to snuggle but is especially heat seeking when it’s cooler. She rarely ventures to the office area, but she did tonight.
Looks like kitty gogurt?
Our last living cat is big on the treats, but mostly the ones that shake in the jar (it’s the only guaranteed way to get her to make an appearance). Mostly she gets greenies for her teeth. Wonder if she would like this stuff as much.
I might have figured out the cat’s mystery illness. I caught him chewing on some of the pine needles from the potted plant that we got. I’ll have to move it to a different room until we can plant it.
We just had this with a new kitten and various Christmas decorations my partner likes to put up. (I don’t mind some, but don’t need an excess of decorations dedicated to 5 weeks of the year.)
Anyway, kept finding little vomit piles, figured out they were chewed/slightly digested parts of Christmas decorations. Nothing that seemed terrible concerning - small, soft plastic “pine needles”, things like that. Nothing that would bind their intestines, or obviously be toxic. I’ve seen cats pass all sorts of yarn and things that would be more internally dangerous (including multiple poops connected by 1 yarn - that kitty got into a skein at some point.)
This guy decided to have a romp in the yard today and refused to come inside until he was absolutely finished.
My orange tabby is sick again with urinary tract problems (trouble going, blood in urine). He’s had an issue with crystals in his urine causing this problem since he was a youngster, but usually it’s been kept in control by special diet. However, this is the second time in a few months that he’s had a more major problem.
My wife has him at the vet now. Hopefully it’s nothing major. We are supposed to go out of town Mon-Fri, so she’ll also ask if we should board him there instead of having a pet sitter check on him.
They gave him fluids and some pain meds, and took a urine sample to be cultured. They think it’s probably just crystals in his urine again, but want to rule out bacterial infection.
He seems to be feeling great today. He is very active and attention seeking this morning. Haven’t noticed him in the cat box yet today, but that’s actually a good sign as when he’s having issues he goes to the box often trying to squeeze a little out.
Male cat blockages are terrifying. I’m glad you handled it quickly, as I understand it can go from concerning to deadly in a day or so.
We had to get one of ours put on a catheter, sedated, for I think a little over 1 full day. Thankfully his prescription wet food diet has kept it from reoccurring for ~4 years.
He wasn’t completely blocked this time, but he has been before so we know when he’s having trouble.
They gave my cat a transdermal dose of Zorbium, which is a synthetic opioid. He’s still high, as it lasts 4 days. He’s super affectionate on this stuff. He is always affectionate, but this stuff makes him over the top.
Our late cat got that when he broke his leg, and it made him super paranoid! It was cute.
We are taking our young void in to be snipped soon. He is the biggest goober with zero sense of self-preservation. Pet him and he’ll roll off your lap to fall onto his head. The moment we met him wild in the woods he ran up and went “TOUCH MY BELLY!” He loves to take dangerous flying leaps. He is the most liquid cat and spends 2-3 hours per workday wrapped around the back of my neck like an airplane pillow.
I’m gonna feel bad but also laugh when he has a cone on.
I’m jealous. I see my cat like once every three weeks when he stops by for a bit of food. Yesterday was one of those days. It was good to see he’s still healthy! MFer is all independent and shit.
The cat you used to know.
