March Madness 2026 (a.k.a the annual Rock-Paper-Scissors tournament)

Waiting is the hardest part.

Happy Monday! The throws are coming, and we’re starting to see a little separation in some of the matches - we now have 2 players with a 2-0 lead in their match, so they’re halfway to advancing… but remember, these are best-of-7 matches, so there’s plenty of time to mount a comeback (and we’ve seen a number of those over the years!).

Looking closer at the regions:

  • In the soyleche region, Scissors were the key to victory this time around
  • Meanwhile, folks are still sizing one-another up in the SteveGrondin region
  • In the Ted_Hoffman region, we’ve got 2 tied-up matches, one at 1-1, and the other still waiting for an opening throw from one player…
  • And finally in the skysn93 region we’re really moving, where each match has a player with 2 wins already… but that’s always the easy half - it’s winning the second 2 games where the work comes in!

A good start to the week, folks - well done! Let’s keep those throws coming! :+1:

Quick Summary:
:oh_noes:

Yes, we’ve got our first “Quick Summary” notice of the tournament! For those of you who are new to the tournament, the :oh_noes: means someone is just one throw away from being eliminated! Might we have our first elimination of the tournament in the next update? Stay tuned to find out!

Meanwhile, highlights from each region:

  • It looks like 1 throw isn’t gonna be enough anymore in the soyleche region - all those matches went two throws this time (and we’re only at Game 3!)
  • Meanwhile in the SteveGrondin region EC and Linus are continuing an epic back-and-forth battle (no surprise there, given both are RPS veterans)
  • Over in the Ted_Hoffman region, VA has now snuck into the lead… but how long will that last?
  • … and finally, in the skysn93 region, we’ve got Outdoorman now on :oh_noes: notice… yikes!

Keep those throws coming - the matches are starting to heat up now! :+1:

Okay, getting back on track here… but suddenly there’s a lot of excitement in the arena now!

Quick summary:
:oh_noes: :oh_noes:
:oh_noes: :oh_noes:

That’s right - you wait a day (or two :gulp:), and suddenly we’ve got a lot a traffic on the edge of Elimination Cliff! It’s looking like there could be quite a bit of carnage to end this week!

Looking closer at each region:

  • In the soyleche region, we’ve got two matches that could be down to their last throw!
  • Meanwhile, the SteveGrondin region is all about the back-and-forth, as both matches are tied
  • We’re also looking at two potential eliminations in the Ted_Hoffman region, albeit for different reasons… (Where are you, @Actuary321??)
  • And finally in the skysn93 region, Outdoorman manages to hold off the :broom: and stay alive… for now. :eep:

And the tensions keeps building as the matches get tighter! Keep those throws coming! :+1:

Good ahead folks, tire yourselves out.

You’re going to be so cold when it’s time to perform that all you’ll be capable of is misfiring and sputtering.

You must be mistaking this for some other kind of activity.

Oof, was not expecting the R-R. Well let’s see if you can get this filed away….

Well, it looks like I might’ve been a little more distracted by that “other” March Madness tournament than I care to admit… :blush.:

Quick Summary:
:skull_and_crossbones: :skull_and_crossbones:
:oh_noes: :oh_noes: :oh_noes:

That’s right - the good news is that everyone made it to the weekend… but only because I was wayyyy too late updating today’s throws. As the Quick Summary suggests, we have our first two victims of the tournament. A valiant battle in both cases, as both matches went three throws in the decisive game, but alas, we’ve lost two. However, with three more folks on the verge of elimination, that moved-to-the-sidelines crowd will be growing quickly.

Depending on how many throws I get over the weekend, I might get an update out; otherwise enjoy the weekend, and we’ll all be back on Monday! :+1:

Good game, @AlexioXela! Thanks for coming out of hiding and joining the fray. Hope it was fun and we’ll see a few more posts from you in other games.

FWIW, I occasionally do a themed-version of Mafia including ones with Dune references and a different one with current events.

Good dog. :treat:
