March Madness 2024 (a.k.a the annual Rock-Paper-Scissors tournament)

I like to see how quickly my opponent plays…gives me a hint as to what they threw.

Whiskey delayed quite a while before his first throw in the Elite 8, and threw an aggressive Rock. Then again, he threw a Rock just about every throw throughout the match.

Now…you have chosen to throw immediately after the Final 4 has begun. And what does that tell me about you? Did you play aggressively fast, but throw a more passive Paper? And is paper really passive, or am I just mis-characterizing the various RPS options? If Rock’s aggressive, and Paper’s passive, what does that make Scissors? And does it really matter, since you don’t seem to throw Scissors much anyway? Hmmmm…

And every opponent who tried the delaying tactic by attempting a Vizzini ultimately lost their match with me.

I think your totality correct.

I don’t think the moderator would take umbra with that at all.

… and we’re back! Thank y’all for putting up with the break in the action. We were successful in seeing the totality, and due to a last minute pivot I can now check off “See a total eclipse in Paris” from my bucket list! Okay, it was New Paris, OH, but that’s totally the same thing, right? I was lucky enough to see totality in 2017 as well, and this one was just as awesome! :+1: :+1:

Speaking of seeing things again for a second time, did y’all know this year we have our first (known) repeated semi-final matchup? :astonished: That’s right, in 2018 Ezekial_Cumberland and Vorian_Atreides also faced off in the semi-finals! Anyone remember how that turned out?

2018 (BracketMaker view not available at this time)
Semis: Ezekial Cumberland over Vorian Atreides (5-2), dgtatum over Gandalf (5-4)
Finals: Ezekial Cumberland over dgtatum (5-1)
[/quote]

… and even if you didn’t remember it, it’s clear that EC and VA did, as they started out on 5-throw game for Game 1!! :astonished:

Meanwhile, in the other semi-final JFG tied things up with The_Notorious_LINUS, albeit in a more efficient manner. That battle looks like it’ll be a close one as well… but we wouldn’t expect anything less in the Final Four!

Keep cheering on the players, keep heckling the host, and keep sending in those throws! :+1:

Just like the eclipse, your hosting should leave us in awe, not in the dark!

Nevermind that the eclipse also left you in the (mostly) dark.

Things are starting to pick up in the JFG-THE_Notorious_LINUS matchup! The first two games were decided by a single throw. Game 3 took two throws… and all of those throws in their match are still fewer throws than VA and EC needed for just one game!

Keep those throws coming! :+1:

VA and EC decide to be a little more efficient in Game 2, but they still need more than one throw to determine a winner…

I knew we were going to have some great matches here, but it’s still pretty impressive that this early in the matches everyone’s already had the lead at some point in their match! Methinks we could go the distance in both matchups!!

So disappointed in @Ezekial_Cumberland. I expected better from him.

Maybe he should eat some more of that chicken sushi I sent him.

Or some of these!

Things are about to get really interesting now! Why, you ask? Because we’re now in double :oh_noes: mode!!

:oh_noes: :oh_noes:

It wasn’t a surprise in the JFG/T.N.Linus match, as it was 2-2, and it was inevitable, but it [i]was[i] a bit of a surprise in the VA/EC matchup.

So you’ll definitely want to stay tuned now - we are potentially just two throws away from starting the Finals! :astonished: :astonished:
