Last of the GoAicans

Just noticed that the regulars on the Redactle thread are now down to 2 (unless @PatientZombie makes a comeback). We were at about 5 or 6 regulars for 3.5 years but in the last 6 months or so, our numbers have steadily dropped. I also used to play WhereTaken and our numbers briefly got up to 6 but once noone else was posting, I stopped playing (although in that case it was a hassle moving around the map).

It’s inevitable that people move on from playing certain games. It does make me think of the bigger issue - we seem to be a slowly dying site. It makes sense given that once we migrated from ActuarialOutpost we lost the influx of new actuarial students.

Perhaps slowly dying is the wrong way to put it. It’s like a series of school reunions that gradually get smaller as people lose interest or die off but there’s still value in the remainder meeting up. I do miss the larger crowds though when we could read several comments on that day’s puzzle.

One day it will just be one of us talking to a bunch of bots.- a bit like Red Dwarf.

Sadder thought: someday if the community is still here, our RIP threads will start becoming a lot more personal.

I rarely play weekends, work trips or vacations. Currently on vacation, followed by three day work trip.

I will be back, eventually

Need to advertise on reddit. And tell all your direct reports they need to come here asap.

Hah! I can’t imagine how my direct reports would deal with that. I’m very open about my former prolificacy on the AO but not here.

I don’t think there’s much to be ashamed of here, but I wouldn’t to know my boss IRL online and I can only assume my team would say the same about me.

I know it’s a joke, but it made for a fun thought exercise.
