Last movie you've watched

Poor Things enjoyed it. Main character matured very fast (from near toddler mentally to Phil major level within short order) but liked it

Also greatly enjoyed watching it this afternoon.

There HAS to be a Dune Messiah movie….

The Babysitters. On Prime.
John Leguizamo seduces the babysitter, then pays her, then repeats this a lot. She gets the idea to start a business with some friends. Not based on that tween novel series (though I never read them so what do I know?).

I believe the tween novel series you are referring to is The Babysitters’ Club. Which is bit more tame than the movie you are describing.

The Wind Rises by Miyazaki. A love letter to love and the birth of flight. Much like Porko Rosso, but without the action and jokes and fun stuff. Just all beauty. And mixed feelings about war. Anyway, recommend.

Probably the least watchable for a kid though?

DOPE on HBO. Decent coming of age comedy.

Poor Things on Hulu. Didn’t love it.

Les filles d’Olfa (Four Daughters) (NetFlix) This documentary lost me early.
They spent so much time on the actresses playing the roles, and stuff that seemed to have nothing to do with the ultimate story, that I stopped caring.

To Kill a Tiger (NetFlix) Very disturbing (not graphic) documentary of taking rapist to trial. These two documentaries give a terrible perspective on many cultures, especially as it applies to women.

Wonka (Max) As someone who grew up on and loves the 1971 original, I found this quite charming and a nice family film. The music isn’t particularly memorable, yet pleasant. Chalamet didn’t try to do a Wilder impersonation, though he was a very good choice. I have never read the book so no idea if this, the original or the Depp version should get more respect due to it. I will also comment that this film added nothing. There were no gaps in the original or aha moments that made this necessary to the story telling, though a few little subtle connections.

All of Us Strangers (Hulu) Interesting fantasy romance, but I just felt the plot was a little thin, outside the fantasy and romance

Poor Things (Hulu) I am torn on this. Odd, quirky, off balance and very sexual. I have no issues with sex in films, but just felt that this could have been developed along additional lines. It felt a bit forced towards the sexuality

Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour (Disney+) Going in I knew nothing of her music. Much more ballad-y than I expected. All in all pleasant, I just would prefer music that is more dynamic. Totally a concert film (no behind the scenes stuff). Her fans do love her and she performed for 3 hours (not particularly long songs, so she does a lot of them).

Dream Scenario (Airplane) Original, weird, but ultimately unsatisfying. Definitely some social commentary to discuss, but didn’t like where they went towards the end

The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes (Airplane) I have seen them all and read the first book, all in all I thought this was a pretty good prequel. The main character was a bit more complex than you usually see in this type of thing

Killers of the Flower Moon (Airplane) I read the book, and while it was good, this added a lot of color I felt the book lacked (only so much can be added to a true crime, as opposed to a novel). I enjoyed this very much. It was a long film, though I wish it focused more on the FBI agent (who I expected to be older and tougher looking) and the J E Hoover connection, I loved that part of the book.

Priscilla (Airplane) Presley, from her meeting him to their divorce - I found it a rather thin plot and boring.

Haunted Mansion (Airplane) Forced, not funny, not scary

Trolls Band Together (Airplane) Not cringeworthy, but strictly for the kids, who will not get all the Boy Band references. The music was all over the place, maybe if it stayed with one style it would have flowed better

Los renglones torcidos de Dios (God’s Crooked Lines) (Netflix) Is she crazy? or committed to solve the crime? Well acted, though a bit too slick and over the top. As well as a plot that has been done many times before

Anatomie d’une chute (Anatomy of a Fall) (Airplane) Excellent court drama. Well acted realistic, avoiding all the overly slick lawyers and aha moments that don’t happen in real life.

My reaction exactly. J Edgar Hoover and the early days of the FBI is a fascinating topic and critical to the plot of the story. Of course, J Edgar was an interesting character, period!

Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire

Yawn

And $10 popcorn at Regal?

Although, I saw the Beetlejuice Beetlejuice trailer - that looks like it may be fun

The original Brian’s Song. I forgot that it was a made-for-TV movie and looks like it. Wikipedia points out that it was ranked #7 in the ā€œguy cryā€ category and, despite all the made-for-TV-ness there, I’d agree. It’s very good for what it is. Also, who would have thought he’d be Lando Calrissian

I was also kind of amazed that the movie came out only a little more than a year after Piccolo died (oh. spoiler alert, btw). They were amazingly fast in their tribute/capitalization. It must have been a weird filming, as many Bears, again only a year removed from his death, were included in the movie.

always felt it was #1, in guy cry, have to look it up.

Was released in theaters after TV release, i believe, whichbwas very rare

Chip ā€˜n Dale: Rescue Rangers: much more fun than I expected. I was a huge fan of the cartoon when I was a kid (along with th rest of the Disney Afternoon). The movie had a lot of references to ā€˜80s/ā€˜90s stuff that was fun to see. It was the same basic idea as Roger Rabbit, with cartoons and people living together.

At least he didn’t betray his friend.

Forrest Gump. I don’t like it as much as most people, I think.

watched The Joker on the delta flight. phoenix was some form of committed to that role. hot damn I thought it was very good and he was something else. i don’t do many of the comic-book adaptation worlds, but this was amazing IMO. also thought the Gotham in shambles at the time of the film had to be the merica in tatters that DJT actually thinks exists

That would be one of the top 5 or so movies I’ve seen in the last decade, although I haven’t seen many compared to previous decades (mainly watch streaming TV now).

i believe you can say that about many of his roles
