Last movie you've watched

Nice choice of words . . .

Ghosted on apple+ was a lot of fun. Doubt i will remember it in a few months, but it served its purpose on a Friday night.

Puss in Boots & Puss in Boots 2 - preferred the first one, both in plot/story telling and in animation style.

Vengeance on Amazon prime. BJ Novak (from the Office) and it also has Ashton Kutcher. Pretty good synthesis of a bunch of different ideas and had some funny moments.

D&D movie. Great fun if you were a fan of the game. Hugh Grant killed his role.

I watched both of those the week of the 10th.

D&D movie was better than it should have been. Very enjoyable popcorn movie.

Vengence also surprised. I did not think i would enjoy it, but it kept my attention and surprised me with the ending.

I kind of figured that would happen eventually but the way it played out was not how I expected it to go down

Till (Airplane) - It was good, well acted, BUT… For a highly emotional topic, I felt nothing. Maybe because I knew the story, but I felt it was too much, too in your face, too foreshadowed. I get highly emotional, yet this did not hit me at any point. The main actress was good, but again, when everything is at one emotional level. I know she felt this should have gotten Oscar consideration, but not sure where. She would be the only consideration, but not even my first alternate.

Whitney Houston: I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Airplane) This was also good, well acted, BUT.. Too surface. It focused on the talent and the voice. I really enjoyed the music, but how did the hard drugs start? The seemed to give Bobby Brown a break (never even shown as a wife beater - one scene with a bruise), the father was shown as the only villain and maybe her downfall was self made, but I wanted more.

A Man Called Otto (Airplane) - I loved this. I laughed, I cried (which is embarrassing on an airplane). Loved the original too, but don’t remember enough detail to compare. The neighbor should be a strong candidate for best supporting actress. A worthy remake, that makes this story more accessible for a lot of people

Castaway with Tom Hanks. Missed it the first time bc I had a little baby.

Luther, on Netflix. Well, my husband watched it. I left after the first hour and played Minecraft. If you want more of a review than that, Elba is still hot, but that’s not enough to carry a movie with a nonsensical plot and some nasty death scenes.

Do Revenge on Netflix. A sort of Strangers on a Train premise. Two high school girls connect and decide that they will destroy each other’s nemeses. Not particularly well done, although the resolution is somewhat satisfying.

The Portable Door on Amazon. You get some supernatural stuff, a door that can take you wherever you want to go, mind control, etc. Pretty entertaining for me. You get Christoph Waltz playing two characters as well.

A Tourist’s Guide to Love on Netflix. General rom-com. She breaks up with her serious boyfriend. Her boss at the travel agency sends her to Vietnam to scope out a local tour company they are interested in. Tour guide is part of the ownership structure (family owned) but doesn’t know who she is. More of the usual, but the tour was enjoyable.

Mr. Harrigan’s Phone on Netflix. Donald Sutherland is a local billionaire in the sleepy little town. He hires a local youngster to read classics to him as his vision is going. This goes on for years. Once the reader reaches high school, he gets an iPhone and buys one for the billionaire, teaches him how to use it. The bond between these tow was nice. The oldster passes and the phone calls come from him. A little creepy. People start dying as well. The movie has a lot to say about technology and social media. Very in your face.

My Name is Vendetta on Netflix. An Italian flick about a hired gun for one of the families. He is in hiding since he killed the don’s son. Daughter posts a picture of him and they family finds where he lives. They send a team to kill hem. They miss but take out some of his family. Now he and his daughter must exact revenge. An OK film.

Guardians of the Galaxy, vol 3 - fun movie, good time, great soundtrack.

Cocaine Bear on Peacock. I had “high” hopes for this one. Interesting cast, one of if not the last movie Ray Liotta did, Kerri Russell and Matthew Rhys in it, etc. Wow, not a very good movie by my standards. Lots of gore though, body parts left and right, many dead, etc. More funny than good.

Finally watched this with my teen daughter the other night. It’s been on the list for awhile. She enjoyed it. Not really scary enough for her taste but some good comedy. Might have to do Bubba-Ho-Tep too at some point.

My 15 year old grandson liked this but I did not accompany him to it…..based on your review I probably won’t catch it later either.

The Producers (1967) - I’ve seen most of Mel Brooks’ films and I enjoyed this. This had to be difficult material only 25 years post-WWII. Dick Shawn was great - the actual Hitler play would be something to see. I never saw the remake nor the long running Broadway play in the 2000s.

Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves for $20 on Prime. Never played D&D so I don’t know if the weirdly named places and people mean anything, but the cast made it look like they were having a blast and made the movie a lot of fun. Highly recommend.

Air on Prime. If you were a high schooler or older in 1980, this movie hits all the sweet spots. Kind of a Ready Player One vibe, but with culture, not video games and such. The offices and little CRT monitors, the pay phones, the clothes, the music. It set the stage for the movie which was the signing of Michael Jordan at Nike. Star power with Matt Damon, Viola Davis, Ben Affleck along with Chris Messina and Chris Tucker. Very well done, the pacing was great, story was cool. Highly recommend.

Not to any particular “module” of games or campaigns; but highly reflective of what you’re likely to see if you pick one up and start “working” through the material.

Thanks for that. Found it very enjoyable even without that background.

A Man Called Otto. Lots of tears. Maybe this will motivate me to finish the book.
