The Rivals Of Amziah King at the theater. First, I wish there were subtitles to this. I feel I missed too much of the story. Stars Matthew McConaughey as a bee keeper in rural Oklahoma. He is a well respected guy and knows just about everyone. One day, by chance he meets a young woman that was one of his foster children maybe 15 years ago. The film spins on from there and is a real good watch (except for the scalping scene and it is not anything you could imagine in advance, be forewarned). I may go back for a rewatch with subtitles when it comes to streaming.

Song of the Sea (2014) An Irish animated movie about a boy who blames his sister for the loss of their mother, and his sister, who can turn into a seal and is the one who can save the fairies. You know where the story is going, but it is well done. The animation style is similar to The Secret of Kells.

I enjoyed all three MiB movies; but the first one is still my favorite (especially the tests).
I will say that MiB3 is the weakest of the franchise, but still a fun watch, IMO.
Was there a time period implied for the setting?

Practical Magic on HBO. Getting ready for part 2 and had never seen this one. I was underwhelmed, but my wife really liked it.
Spiderman: Brand New Day at the theater. Maybe the best Tom Holland stand alone Spiderman movie in the MCU. I enjoyed it immensely.
The Kid Detective on Netflix. Adam Brody as a former kid detective who solved over 200 cases. He is very down on his luck now as an adult detective, but gets handed a murder case with so many connections to other parts of his life. A kind of noirish feel, so I liked it, but the story itself was a bit meh.
One Night Only at the theater. Such a stupid premise, but the movie was a pretty solid rom-com otherwise. Set up is single people can only have sex one night a year and have implants to track them. As you might guess, this movie takes place on that night. Biggest plot hole is that you need to use protection, so why did so many people not have condoms and how could the stores run out?
The End of Oak Street at the theater. There be dinosaurs in this one. Anne Hathaway was pretty good. Ewan McGregor, not so much. Something happens and their section of town ends up infested with dinosaurs. Some time travel here, but donāt try to think about it rationally; it doesnāt make sense.
Mutiny at the theater. Exactly what you want/need from a Jason Statham revenge film. It ultimately ends up on a shipping tanker. Only disappointing thing was he didnāt end up in the water. Must see for Statham fans.
The Long Walk adaptation of Richard Bachman (Stephen King) story. Dystopian future where contestants try to be the last one walking in a race with no finish line to win money. Wasnāt sure how this would translate to screen but it worked out fairly well. Not the best adaption of Kingās work but not a dog like some of the adaptations. Probably not for everyone but if you like a more cerebral dystopian story focus on the characters, you might like this one, I did.
The Running Man (2025) - another Bachman/King adaptation. This one was much more true to the book than the campy Arnold Schwarzenegger pure action snark version. I did like Arnnieās version but this one was much better. One of the better King adaptions to film in my opinion, this was really good dystopian future action film.
The Last House - post apocalyptic world where a family is supposedly āthe last houseā of people. There were way too many flaws and plot holes and deus ex machina in this one for me to even suspend disbelief. The acting and writing were both B level. Unless you are huge fan of the genre, Iād probably skip this one.
Leave the World Behind - another sort of post apocalyptic world or maybe more the transition phase into that? This one had some of the same plot holes as The Last House, but was far more believable and easier to forgive some of those holes. The writing and acting were also far better than The Last House. This one I rather enjoyed though my wife started it while I was cooking dinner so I missed some of the set up, but was easy to catchup for the back half of the movie as this was more charter driven that story driven IMO.

Green Room (2015)
This was a pretty intense film. Anton Yelchinās last release before he died. Punk band plays a gig at a neo-nazi compound in Oregon. One of them accidentally witnesses a murder and they are trapped in the compound and must escape. Patrick Stewart is great as the neo-nazi leader. This one has been on my list for a while and I finally got around to it. Worth a look if you are into suspense and a bit of gore.

Just watched The Last House. Iāll admit that it wasnāt spectacular, but it kept my interest.
The Magic Faraway Forest at the theater. I gotta admit, I pictured @NerdAlert and her family watching this while I was in the theater. I think They would enjoy it. Adaption of a boor series and very well done. Felt a little long, but enjoyable ride throughout. Most of the story revolves around the kids and it works.

Watching The Captive (2014) with Ryan Reynolds and Mirielle Enos as parents of a 9-year-old girl that gets abducted as the father runs into a shop for pie. Rosario Dawson and Scott Speedman play detectives on the case. There are some interesting twists. 4/5 for me.

The Black Hole (1979)
Been wanting to watch this one forever and finally got around to it. Itās Disney so of course thereās a silly robot, but this is pretty intense sci-fi with some really dark themes. Special effects were rough, but the visuals were stunning at times. I really liked the bit when they went through the black hole because it was so unexpected. Kids live/hated it as usual.

Documentary of the life of Seymour (Sy) Hersh, investigative reporter, which I do not believe exist anymore (though he is still doing it, at 89 years old).
