Then…they’re really good at selling image? That’s still a talent. How many celebrities tried to push their own make up line and got nowhere. Like I said, when this family does things, they do it right.

I don’t begrudge their success. I am relatively indifferent to their activities (except maybe need to know for trivia). I also don’t have a good basis to judge about how much is blind luck vs hard work.
I do agree with Space Lobster that it says a bit about the general public (and how my spending priorities differ from gp). It also says a lot about the nature of the modern economy.
I also don’t think fashion/make-up/entertainment are completely different industries. They are quite closely related in my mind. Pharmaceuticals/industrial equipment/financial services would say something.
Well, I guess to the unfamiliar, someone would say accountant, actuary, and investment banker are similar industries.
But it’ll still be impressive if a family has a best-of in each of those fields.
There is an old saying that nobody ever went broke by underestimating the intelligence of the general public.
