The famine is real, and not driven solely, or even primarily from hamas taking aid, but hamas has taken aid to give to thier staff.
Yes, and the usual suspect(s) will tell you that because Hamas may have taken aid, it’s necessary to starve all the Palestinians and occasionally herd them into an area to “receive aid” where they get shot for sport.
And, tracing all the arguments back, it’s the fault of the Palestinians for (a) not voting to get rid of Hamas since the 10/7 attack, (b) not voting to get rid of Hamas since the last election in 2006 [even though no election has been called since and Hamas would have ignored it anyway], and (c) voting for Hamas instead of the even more corrupt Fatah regime in place, with the other options being 3rd parties akin to the U.S.'s Libertarian Party, Green Party, Reform Party, and Forward Party.
So really, no matter what the thought process is, this is all the fault of the Palestinians for existing. If they want food, they should do something to get rid of Hamas now - and when they do, they’re still going to get starved to death because it’s too late to make amends.

Necessary? No. But according to international law, as I’ve posted before, if Hamas is taking aid, then Israel is not required to allow food in. Not saying it’s the right thing to do, but it doesn’t violate the laws.

I think there are proportionality concerns in the law as well. Starving millions because of a theft of 1 sandwich won’t pass muster, for example.

UN tracks things, although it doesn’t differentiate between aid stolen by Hamas vs others.
These numbers are from May 19th through today:
51,021 pallets aid offloaded in Gaza. 38,933 were collected. 5,085 arrived at their intended destination. 33,688 were intercepted.
2,545 trucks were offloaded. 2,604 were collected (I guess some trucks had arrived before May 19th and were collected later?). 300 arrived at their intended destinations. 2,310 were intercepted.

The absolute most charitable interpretation of this is “Israel is going to take military control of all of Gaza” [which it really has now anyway, but that’s a distraction] “so it can relocate the Palestinians to somewhere else.” Where the “somewhere else” is, Israel doesn’t give a rat’s ass - just as long as it’s not in Gaza, or the West Bank, or anywhere near Israel.
The more likely interpretation of this is “Israel is going to tighten the noose and finish off the Palestinians in Gaza by making it more difficult for them to find safety, while continuing to starve them and shoot them for sport - and, use control of the area to dispose of as much evidence of its war crimes and genocide as possible.”
A functioning U.N. would have sent an international force into Gaza long before now to keep the peace and disburse aid to end the genocide. Instead, we have a modern day League of Nations that’s impotent to do anything, no matter how apparent the horrors are.

It’s a convenient excuse that “other Arab nations” won’t accept the Gazans for a number of reasons. Thus, it’s not Israel’s fault that nobody will step in to help the poor struggling Gazans who really brought this all on themselves. Israel gave aid after all, and even stepped in to try to “help” when they absolutely had to.
No, the absolute most charitable would be that Israel will maintain control while allowing people to live there, until it knows that someone else can run Gaza without allowing a terror group to take control there again. This is in order to maintain Israel’s safety. When a group is identified to run Gaza, Israel will withdraw.
I’m not saying that’s what will happen, but if you’re looking for “most charitable”, at least put it out there.

Even the term “stolen” is a bit much for “intercepted peacefully by hungry people”.

So interception isn’t necessarily Hamas, right? That being said, when 2,545 trucks were sent in the 80 days between May 19 and now, and the number needed was on the order of 40,000 truckloads is it surprising that any desperate persons might not say, “Hmm, I’m gonna queue in the line where Israeli soldiers regularly shoot people and trust I’ll get what I need”? Israel could permit enough trucks to make Hamas’ hoarding useless, but they don’t. They empower Hamas.

(1200 deaths + 251 abductions) / (61,000 deaths / 700 days) = 16.65 days each time for Israel to murder the number of victims Hamas victimized on October 7th.
