Anybody with even an ounce of critical thinking ability would have come to the conclusion that Trump was a clear and present danger to the US of A. Even if you disliked Harris and the Ds…voting for Trump was simply not happening.
Pretty much everybody here has an ounce of critical thinking ability
Ergo…you get general agreement*
Outside of that issue we disagree plenty.
*Based on the last month or so the general consensus has indeed been proven correct.
The important thing is that the GoA allows all (respectful) opinions, even the wrong ones, which are responded to respectfully. Thus, not an “echo chamber” in which opposing speech is actively stifled.
It’s a good thing about GoA. But frankly a lot of Social Media-- facebook, tweeter, reddit, news comments, etc. allow for (most) speech. But are very echo-y anyway because people of a certain culture gather there to agree, and everyone else leaves.
I consider this GoA to be mostly a liberal echo chamber. Honestly, that’s one of the reasons i visit these days. I’m terrified and welcome the validation.
I’d probably describe it as a reality-based echo chamber. Most posters here are far more conservative than me. It’s just the nature of the job I think. But actuary also implies a dose of level-headedness that you can’t count on in many folks. I feel like we are entering a new dark age where science and reason are being abandoned for some more ancient tribal instincts and this is a bastion of sanity for me.
This is why I stay. If you make a statement here that is blatantly false or fringe enough it will be called out. Requests for references and/or explanation is the standard. I like the corrections I receive here they improve my rhetoric.
No where else do I see such a high ratio of factual statements, references, links to actual events, and reason based analysis from casual conversations.
It’s worth remembering that the cultists and folks receptive to at least some of what the Dear Leader is facilitating think that their echo chambers are the reality-based ones.
Yeah it’s frightening how effective their messaging is. I refuse to concede that objective reality is dead. Not sure how to combat the firehose of lies though.
The Israeli forensics team determined that the Bibas children were strangled, by hand, only a month after being taken hostage. The terrorists then mutilated their bodies to try and cover it up, and make it look like they were killed in an airstrike.
I have yet to find any external entity that has this evidence and has corroborated it.
But feel free to point to evidence other than Israeli sources
What I am however seeing is:
Right-wing whipping up the crowd with yet more psychological warfare
Delay of the release of the 600 Palestinians after Hamas released their next set of hostages.
There may have been some bumps on the road but Hamas is actually sticking to rhe agreement.
If this is the pretext they will be using to continue fighting its unlikely the world is going to buy it this time (they have tried this before)
Everything I post is corroborated by external sources
What we have established over the last 15 months is:
Hamas lies for advantage
Israel lies for advantage
They both do this to try to inflame public opinion in their favour. So now they both get zero trust when it comes to making these sorts of proclamations.
Also, any agreement like this one will have a section on mediation.
So, where is the mediator in all of this?
Why have they not corroborated the current IDF position.
Thats what you should be asking yourself. But you never seem to. Your level of bias is very high (I don’t think you would ever see the IDF as bad guys even when presented with factual evidence that they have also done terrible things)
Just to add:
The right-wing coalition in Israel has slowly been replacing key people in the police, military, and other security based roles over the last 15 months with their own people.
Anything that comes from these apparatchiks cannot be trusted so it needs ro be independently verified.
No doubt. Yet how many of those Harris voters would have voted for a fire hydrant if that was the alternative to Don. I’d be cautious on how much to infer from that fact alone.
The Ds just ran a standard Neo liberal. And they paid the price. Somehow, the Ds are now defenders of the institutions and the status quo.
