Schadenfreude?

Considering the Jews control the weather… I mean he did “the right thing” by letting the cabal drop Macklemore. What more do “they” want??

Did not know that dyed fuel was still around. We had “purple gas” in the 1950s in Ontario for our tractor but I don’t think it has been in use here since then.

So Nov 3 minus Sep 28 inclusive equals 37, so it will be extended an extra 7 days. After that you’re on your own.

At this rate…diesel will be hitting $7 just in time for the mid-terms.

I have to admit that the level of schadenfreude is reaching some truly epic levels…

I know CA elections do not matter in the big picture, but we are over $8.

Sure. But even if Trump where to stop being an ass today…you are still looking at elevated diesel prices for 1 year minimum. And if he blocks exports it will get much worse price-wise due to a lack of refinery capacity abroad.

Why do all prices keep going up? Oil is not any higher now than it has been all year. I could see a disconnect in the market for certain products that rely on ME oil, but it seems like its all up.

Have oil companies begun replacing what they borrowed from the SPR?

Refining capacity issues.

Oh, US companies are raking in the profis to refine all the US oil and then ship off the refined products.

And Russian capacity has been damaged by Ukraine.

Seems like Europe and Asia should be in much worse shape.

Or price gouging and record profits?

Quite a bit of that as well…

Eight listed independent US refiners are expected to report combined profits worth $32.4bn in the two quarters since the war began, compared with $6.8bn in the same period last year. Revenues are forecast at $325.5bn versus $242.9bn last year, according to an FT analysis of each company’s second-quarter results and Wall Street’s expectations for the third quarter.

How would you fix that? We get shortages if you cap their profits and set a prices lower than market. I don’t like the idea of these companies making record profits when American’s are paying record pump prices but we all here should understand economics enough that it’s not as simple as price gouging.

War tax on oil refining profits?

I’d be ok with that.

Hurts mostly the people benefitting, but won’t help the people who are hurting.

If you were living in a more socialistic country, you could use those tax dollars to issue a check to low income people to help them with the war associated increases costs they are facing.

ETA: of course, when elected representatives vote to do something to benefit poor people, it gets called communism.
