I am somewhat comforted by the fact that Trump is at an age that would make any worst case scenarios with him trying to stay in power unlikely, or if he were successful, it would pass quickly. Biden, if he did nothing else, prevented a third term option from being viable. Beyond that, I think we are certainly towards the limit of what the US is collectively willing to tolerate with Trump such that things will trend back to normal in the next few cycles. Perhaps he has stressed the system long enough that it can happen without the usual abrupt, course correcting crisis.
I hope the trend back is real, I fear it is not. Mitch is the trial balloon for Trump.
At this point I think Trump is the distraction. They feed his ego, shock and drug him awake when they need him, and move on with the grift/power grab.
They (Israel) were likely trying to manipulate Trump again.

I think the national party has gone a bit too far left, but the provincial parties are pretty mainstream.
My impression in recent elections is that support for the Liberals and the Nationals is falling apart and Labour is following them down.
Kind of a side note here… my province has about 550k people and a legidlature with 41 or 42 MHAs. We seem to be beyond the maximum capacity of the Parliamentary system for competency. Neither of the major parties can produce a caucus with a full slate of competent MHAs to be Cabinet Ministers. Their first 5 to 8 are ok, and then they start scraping the bottom of the barrel for capabilities. I’m starting to try and push for a switch to a collaborative government model. From my understanding, everyone votes for their district’s MHA. After the election, I think the MHAs select a leader and the members of the Cabinet from across all the elected MHAs. Correct. Has quite a few similarities to UK. The main right wing party is now threatened by a far right party whose only platform seems to be hatred of immigrants. Might get a whole new set of main parties.
