I think it was a combination of quoll’s and Grodin’s posts and it wasn’t just one cause.
As opposed to this latest drop which is a direct result of the ill thought out and ill advised “not” war on Iran that has been won a dozen times or more if Iran would just admit their defeat while while in a newly found position of strength.
Regardless of why the state of the SPR was what it was, I think you could argue that should have further suggested that optional warring in the Persian Gulf was a bad idea given our limited ability to manage the risk.
We strategically made sure we were economically backed into a corner before engaging in a war.
You’d expect we would avoid engaging, given the above position of oil insecurity.
But I’m sure we’ll get that sub-$2 gas any month now.

War widow is denied benefits b/c the Iran conflict isn’t a war, posts about it on social media, then gets her case reviewed and possibly will receive benefits that she should have already gotten.
Can’t help but wonder if those benefits were paid out for casualties in the undeclared Gulf War 1 and Gulf War 2…or is it just the current campaign being just a “special military operation” that caused a failure in the benefits being triggered.
Saying you don’t target civilians is not denying that you still hit them. I expect there are many Iranian civilians that have been killed by US strikes in this military “excursion” but possibly zero American civilians as the IRGC has been primarily targeting military bases. I don’t think Navy Captain Tim Hawkins can claim moral superiority in this excursion.
