This is getting weirder. I am wondering now if this may have to do with someone who got mental health benefits denied.
Some thoughts:
- Of the 8+ million people in NYC about 1 or 2 a day are murdered. I hope this guy’s murder gets exactly the same amount of care from law enforcement that the rest of the victims get.
- The level of professionalism in the hit was pretty common. Lot’s of people have the skill set to pull this off, it just takes the will to kill.
- Our two tier justice system so blatantly on display over the past decade provides a possible/reasonable justification for this murder.
- I suspect C levels will be even more removed from us plebs going forward. Secret board meetings will be cool, right!?
- The possibility that this is a false flag still exists. Dismantling the constitution takes so long, why not have a big of violence to spur the need for the iron fist of federal control.
The insurance execs will certainly be thinking about safety now.
Apparently the shooter made a phone call about 15 minutes before the shooting. Maybe an accomplice who was tracking Thompson’s movements?
This is why most places around here have lower cash pay rates than insured rates?
Why drugs cost more with insurance than without?
Someone’s pockets are being lined. I don’t know enough to know whose.
I’m sorry, while your information did lead to an arrest, your information was not submitted correctly so your $10,000 claim is denied.
When I was involved in executive security in my Bata days we DID expect this to happen and guarded against it. However we primarily worried about it when executives travelled to certain places in other countries but took no extra precautions in NYC other than what tourists would follow. This broad daylight execution in NYC might force some reevaluation of executive security in large corporations.
Reality is that no one is ever 100% safe.
Well it’s not like I have priced a professional hit to know what it costs. But I don’t think this is necessarily true.
I assume your logic is that if the person could afford a hit man they could afford treatment. But treatment can easily be 7-8 figures. I’m assuming hit men can be hired for materially less than that.
Also this was clearly premeditated, but not SO complex as to be impossible for a nonprofessional who is also a decent shot to pull off. In this country with more guns than people there are a LOT of people who are decent shots. It only takes one.
As an example, it could be a NYC cop whose kid was denied treatment and then died. The cop has familiarity with the city, training with guns, knowledge of which murderers do and do not get caught…
That’s just one of about 20,000 possibilities.
The resources weren’t that high. Just the skill level shown. If the person denied was a family member of the wrong veteran, or spook, there you go.
“Hi, I was just wondering: Based on cases you’ve worked, what have people offered to pay for hits like this? Asking for, um, a homework assignment for school.”
Like an American version of Baader-Meinhof?
True. But I don’t have to worry someone will take me out bc of the company I work for.
When the insurance companies own the doctors office, the PMB, and the pharmacy, people blame the insurance companies.
Even the skill doesn’t feel that special… It is way above your average homicidal maniac, but pretty much in line with how any of us would kill someone if we really wanted to.
I guess your average gang buster doesn’t ride a bicycle though.
Agree. Shooting an unsuspecting person in the back from close range isn’t all that skillful. Knowing where to find him on that date/time wasn’t too difficult either.
It does seem to be well planned in terms of concealing identity and escape.
My gut is that this was not a hired hit man, but rather someone with a grievance.
The perp definitely had an escape route scoped out.
They had weapons training (police or military).
This level of planning would also require the perp (or someone else) to do reconnaisance on the area before the day.
If this is not the work of a professional, they are likely to get leads that way by going back and looking at the cameras. In London, thats generally what they do so I assume NYC will be similar.
If this guy was a professional…no way they catch him now.
I agree. Occam’s Razor
People have been getting their claims denied since the beginning of time and to my knowledge no one has been killed over a denied claim yet
People have been killing others for sleeping with their wife since the beginning of time
He just happens to be the ceo of a health insurance company with record setting claim denial rates (man it feels funny to type this out)
He’s also a good looking rich guy. I’m gonna go with the angry husband theory
Everyone (at least on GoA) immediately thought of a claim denial. There was no need to mark the bullets. The perp knew these would be found. I’m leaning towards this was not the motive but rather something to slow down the investigation. Prioritize the usual suspects (i.e. family / friends / jilted lovers / anyone who benefits financially.)
Based on this, they should look at whatever footage is available from the prior meeting(s) to see if someone was casing it.
