Innumeracy

Starbucks is SBUX, and STBX is common parlance among folks going through a divorce. But I’ll try to use STB Ex from now on.

Your use is literally the first I had ever seen.
Confusing it with Saint Barnabas the Tenth, actually.

No. No, there is not. “STBX” is a perfectly cromulent abbreviation.

Don’t do it. The “ E” is superfluous.

Having not been part of that demographics . . . and knowing that it wasn’t SBUX . . . I was assuming it was the ticker-abbrev for some other company that I didn’t care to know which.

With the Twitter replacement . . . not too sure that that “E” isn’t superfluous.

From https://www.cnn.com/2023/12/16/politics/will-georgia-election-workers-collect-148-million-rudy-giuliani/index.html

It’s more of a pet peeve because the usage is ubiquitous and their intent is obvious but…

I don’t think they’ll collect half the amount or a quarter of the amount, just a fraction.

Here, let me rewrite that:

I don’t think they’ll collect 1/2 the amount or a 1/4 of the amount, just a different fraction that is less than 1/4.

Why is Dennis walking around the golf course? He’s obviously not caddying.

He’s such a menace.

Why i dont bother with reddit, for anything.

It’s not quite innumeracy, but it’s something close. Maybe it qualifies as actual innumeracy… you be the judge. Local bar features live music 7 nights a week. Closed Sundays.

Ummmmm… am I lost in a Beatles song???

The article below attempts to depict how popular the NFL is with TV watchers by noting that of the 100 most watched shows or events in 2023,

93 were NFL Games
3 were college football games
3 were not sports (Thanksgiving Parade, Pres Biden SOTU address, Oscars)

I guess that implies there is a non-football sports event in the top 100 but it wasn’t specifically mentioned. Maybe World Series game, or NBA championship game?

Not sure about that last one.

But, wow, people really don’t watch much on TV anymore, en masse, except fuh-baw.
Let’s see, 18 weeks: 18 SNFs, 16 MNFs, 19 (?) TD&NFs, couple of Saturday games, every playoff game in January…
That’s pretty much it. Not sure about the “Sunday Day National Game of The Week” ones, since they are often competing with other NFL Football.
