A U.S. Army Reserve lawyer serving as a temporary federal immigration judge was reportedly removed from his post about a month after beginning the assignment. As of December 2025, over 125 immigration judges have reportedly either been fired or pressured into resigning.
The removal allegedly came after the lawyer granted asylum in a higher share of cases than is typical under the Trump administration’s enforcement priorities.

There’s a few videos up already. In one you can see pretty well what is happening, not that I recommend it.
An officer is grabbing the door handle. The car is trying to pull away, making a 2 point turn. First it is backing up, and then turning sharply to the right and accelerating.
The shooter is standing a few feet away roughly in front of the left headlight. It’s hard to tell exactly, you might say he is “in front” of the car, except that it’s turning. He shoots as the car accelerates into the turn. The car continues to move by him as he continues to shoot. If the car was moving towards him, it would have hit him.
Imo: it’s very clear that she was just trying to get away.
It is less clear if he felt frightened or something. At the least, he made many dumb mistakes.
Anyway, DHS is already calling it a ramming. Noem is suggesting she’s a terrorist. And the officer some kind of hero.
I can’t imagine how hard it would be right now for the victim’s friends and family.
this is not a good development. the video is awful. the shooter positions self in front of the car the was still not stopped. their lack of training shows up again in a bad way.

This is probably the same video I looked at on CNN and I concluded the woman was not going to hit the officer.
The officer did make mistakes. I had a long conversation this summer with my nephew who is a policeman in Ontario. He told me about the extensive training he received about approaching people in stopped vehicles. A lot of it was stuff I had not thought about but it all made sense and greatly reduced risk.
I wonder how much such training ICE agents have…
There is apparently case law saying that if a law enforcement officer can avoid the path of a vehicle by stepping to the side, then they cannot claim self defense in the shooting.

Wow, just seeing this, and a few of the videos.
I doubt the woman saw the officer that shot her. In one video, two men came out of a truck to approach her, with the third officer that fired coming from in front of the car when she was backing up. One of the two men from the truck started yanking on her door handle, and she reacted by pulling forward.
In another I guess a few minutes after a neighbor or medical person nearby asked to go provide medical assistance and the agents told him no and to back off. A neighbor is then heard in distress accusing the agents of killing her neighbor.
Its all horrific. Not necessarily in the graphic sense, just in the pure incompetence demonstrated and complete disregard for a human life.

Fuck off Donald Trump for that post.
He may not have shot someone in the middle of 5th avenue, but this is his policy and if he is going to flat at lie about his team shooting someone literally in the middle of the street, he may as well get the credit for it.

Trump and Noem making up pure bullshit terrorist nonsense to cover up their immigration soldier shooting a 37 year old mother point blank in the face and killing her really feels like a moment that should tell every American just how much this administration really cares about them.

It’s not just the terrorist label, it’s the full assignment of blame to the dead victim that it implies. The Trump administration has done many distasteful things and attacked plenty of public figures with compete lies, but this is just shameful.

This incident is not on the level of the Kent State shootings but I see parallels. The majority of Americans initially felt the Kent State students were to blame. Nixon reacted callously snd doubled down believing this was actually a positive event for him.
I was horror-struck by the shootings. Students protested the killings vigorously and more people started questioning the actions of the National Guard and the Nixon Administration. The anti-Vietnam protests grew larger and louder. I like to think that the death of the four Kent State students was a rallying cry.
I imagine the Minneapolis shooting will also be applauded by some. But hopefully it also sparks conversations and protests against the current administration that have some positive effect. But I may be over optimistic.
