This one makes literally no sense.

Sounds like she filed for her renewal on time and the courts granted her a hearing after her protected status expired.

Then, when she showed up at her hearing for the scheduled time, she was arrested because her protected status is expired.

“This is a complete and utter injustice that is happening to my wife, which is frustrating. It cannot happen in the United States. I’m coming from the USSR, I can understand that I can understand that random stuff and inhumane stuff can happen in those regimes, but this is totally out of whack for where we are and how we feel here,” Korol said.

Sorry, but no. This is the USA in 2025.

I didn’t have an exorcism during Congressional testimony on my bingo card.

Moments in DHS Sec. Kristi Noem’s remarks before a House committee this morning, an apparent religious protester stands and begins shouting for an end of ICE raids and deportations.

The protester bellows: “The power of Christ compels you!”

Religious pushback to ICE has been persistent in 2025.

Digression here but Harper’s Magazine this month has the guidelines on exorcism from the International Association of Exorcists, a group of more than two hundred Catholic priests. It is an incredible read and may be found on Harper’s FB site if you don’t have a subscription.

Could have also filed under studies with obvious results

Interestingly, the immigration judge who magically realized that there was a scrivener’s error and that Abrego Garcia had received an order of removal in 2019 was, in 2019, an immigration judge in Georgia. Abrego Garcia’s 2019 hearing was in Maryland.

I don’t understand why this case is still ongoing. Abrego Garcia has said that he is willing to be deported to Costa Rica. Costa Rica has said that they will take him. It’s a waste of federal resources to try and insist he be deported to a 3rd country.

This administration is not about saving money or time. It is about punishment.

I would accept deportation to Costa Rica.

Canada gains/keeps a strong new researcher due to the US travel ban.

Peripherally on topic… Deaths are expected to exceed births in the US starting around 2032-33. Seems like it will have some interesting impacts where Trump and the GOP are trying to kill off immigration to the US.

Canada has already hit that scenario. Although we have recently greatly decreased our immigration intake there is still a general appreciation here that we need immigrants. Thankful for that.

Just have to figure out how to manage it better. I find it ridiculous that Canadian teens aren’t able to get fast food restaurant jobs because we’re importing grill cooks at minimum wage and assistant managers for $36 or $42/hour.

there’s a whole scam going on with this where they bring in temp foreign workers to do these jobs, pay them next to nothing and then charge them for room and board etc.

This is from 5 days ago:

Osman said armed ICE agents went to East African restaurants in the neighborhood Tuesday, closed the doors and demanded people’s IDs. They found only U.S. citizens and made no arrests, Osman said.

About 84,000 of the 260,000 Somalis in the country live in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area, the overwhelming majority of them U.S. citizens. Almost 58 percent were born in the U.S., and 87 percent of those born elsewhere are naturalized citizens.

This is just openly racist harassment at this point.

All because of one Somali citizen in Congress. Petty, little-penis asshole.

Good news! When they’re harassing the somali’s, they’re not bothering you!

Except maybe not. What the actual eff, police guarding washrooms.
