Yesterday in Oakland, CA
I wonder if ICE might need to require its field agents to satisfy continence standards.
Is that agent/National Guardsman wearing a Groucho disguise?
Asking for a friend.
And that costume behind: is that from Enemy Mine? (Look it up, it’s not a bad movie, just bad effects.)
They keep trying to stop leaks.
Another angle + context. Video is NSFW due to language; the pepper round is fired 1 minute in: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HYC1mncyJck
(Linked because it won’t embed).
Even though there should be consequences expected when blocking traffic, firing a pepper round into someone’s face is excessive.

There are multiple videos that went viral today of ICE assaulting people in the town that I grew up in. All presumably US citizens based on the neighborhood. WTF is happening in this country?
This is what happens when people who should not be trusted with law enforcement powers are given such powers and are told that they have a blank check to get their job done.
Legal Eagle takes a look at why ICE is effectively above the law: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fktQUIkf6o0
Chicago Headline Club, which represents the journalists in the city, are suing Noem over claims that ICE is violating free speech and using excessive force against journalists and protestors. One of the things that they have asked for is drone footage of one of the conflicts. ICE has used clips from the drone footage in propaganda videos, the journalists want the actual footage to determine the accuracy. The judge ordered ICE to turn over the footage, and they said nope, not gonna do that.
Defendants refuse to comply with this Court’s unequivocal order. Specifically,
Defendants have simply refused to produce drone footage from Little Village, despite the Court ordering its production and despite the fact that the Defendants have used it in their social media to support their contentions that the violence in Little Village (and throughout this District) is justified. This refusal to comply with a Court order was not due to inadvertence of the
government’s need for more time to produce the footage among all the other things happening in this case. Instead, as Plaintiffs have now learned, Defendants have decided not to comply with the Order and have made this decision without asking the Court for relief or reconsideration. In a meet and confer yesterday morning, Defendants confirmed that they refuse to
produce any drone footage (even the materials they have used in social media that comments on the issues in this case).

I feel like the US is in the midst of a civil war, that most of the population is unaware that they’re in the middle of a civil war, and the good guys are not winning.
The US has been in a civil war for at least 15 years now. It’s just that it’s getting hot enough for more people to notice.
Who could have forseen that allowing masked unidentified government agents to assault and abduct people could lead to ordinary criminals doing the same?
Yeah, while not exactly my neighborhood, the abduction of the WGN employee was due east of where I grew up and I’ve been past that corner certainly hundreds of times and used to catch a bus to work a block from there. It feels an extra level of awful when the lawless law are assaulting in an area you’re familiar with.
If you defend yourself against a unmarked, masked government agent then you’ll go to prison.
If you fail to defend yourself against an attacker then you might die.
Defending yourself against unknown attackers seems like the clear choice.
