ICE is beginning to open more “soft-sided” facilities to concentrate migrants:

Some of the largest new facilities are soft-sided structures — large plastic enclosures that resemble military barracks. They can be built in a few weeks, but may lack basic amenities like running water and offer little protection from harsh weather, Cho said.

So like concentration camps?

No, no, not at all!!
We are merely making these camps so we can concentrate the prisoners into cost-efficient spaces!

I told them “It was on the truck when I bought it” is fine 9 word response.

A longer response would be “A friend put it there. She said that ICE was harassing people for free speech. I didn’t believe her. She said that she would put a flag sticker on my truck, and that ICE would pull me over in less than a week. It’s only took you guys one day. I should start believing other things she tells me about ICE.”

Canadians visiting the US apparently need to pack light.

Anti-ICE protests in Portland, Oregon have apparently been pretty, um, enthusiastic, and the feds apparently felt a need to clearly indicate the property line they were going to be enforcing.

Deporting Garcia to Uganda now

Quoting an NPR story on the subject:

American citizen handcuffed for the crime of being brown.

buddy that I’m working on this AI stuff is Indian. hes vacationing in Arkansas right now. I’m like, are you kidding me? you know your brown, right?

hes an it contractor so he just randomly drives places in the US for a week or two, working mornings and evenings and driving or sight seeing in the afternoons. then he’ll come home after a week or two.

Law of averages is bound to catch up with him. They don’t seem to care whether you are there legally or not.

Its all about getting the person into the system (as they operate on commission) so they get more $$$ as do the companies with the facilities (more $$ there as well).

Local Fox station carries the story. I didn’t expect that.

Protest against ICE, and you’ll get overcharged. How egregious does the exaggeration have to be to have 3 separate grand juries refuse to indict?

Federal prosecutors on Monday reduced the charges against a woman accused last month of assaulting an F.B.I. agent during a protest against immigration officials in Washington, refiling her case as a misdemeanor after they were unable to persuade three grand juries over a month to indict her with a felony.

It is highly unusual for prosecutors to fail even once — let alone three times — to obtain an indictment from a grand jury given the way the process is stacked in favor of the government. And the move by the prosecutors in the U.S. attorney’s office in Washington to recast the proceeding against the woman, Sidney Lori Reid, as a low-level misdemeanor case suggested that they had overcharged it from the beginning.

Prosecutors almost never go in front of grand juries without obtaining indictments because they are in control of the information grand jurors hear and defendants are not allowed to have their lawyers in the room as evidence is presented.

But in a brief submission filed to Magistrate Judge G. Michael Harvey in Federal District Court in Washington, the prosecutors in Ms. Reid’s case acknowledged the extraordinary: that they had failed three times to secure an indictment within the 30 days given to them to do so after Ms. Reid’s arrest.

“Three grand juries have now declined to indict Ms. Reid for felony assault on a law enforcement officer,” her lawyers, Tezira Abe and Eugene Ohm, said in a statement on Monday evening. “The U.S. attorney can try to concoct crimes to quiet the people, but in our criminal justice system, the citizens have the last word. We are anxious to present the misdemeanor case to a jury and to quickly clear Ms. Reid’s name.”

Border patrol arrested 2 men who were actively working on fighting a wildfire. Because really, that is a reasonable priority.
