I am going to buy this (these) today and reasons why

At my 10th wedding anniversary I got a nice basic Citizen watch that would be about $350 today. A bit smaller but with the functions of the watch below. The battery despite being solar and having been deprived of sun won’t start up again. It might need a new battery, not sure. My 30th anniversary is coming up later this week (as if that has anything to do with it) and the watch is inoperative and scuffed up so I thought I would upgrade. I did consider getting this one

for $410 but truth be told I don’t need all those cool features. It was $510 and will get the time signal from GPS which is far superior to radio and will be handy when I hop across the pond in September. Plus I love blue. I looked at some used watches on eBay out of curiosity and even if they are titanium they still get scratched and banged up. But my new gift will be a pleasure to look at.

I have a watch for refereeing, $20. Phone does the rest.
Impressing superficial people is a waste of my time.

Can confirm, for years I wore a titanium Swiss Army watch. I’m not at home to check (still have it in my dresser) but I think it is a Victorinox. It did get scratched a bit, I think the real benefit was the light weight. Obviously, many folks feel that a heavier watch is preferable.

I have a Timex . It takes a licking and keeps on ticking.

Who says that I’m trying to impress anyone, or that anyone who observes or appreciates a beautiful watch is superficial?

Pretty sure it’s DTNF saying that.

Cool looking watch though. Enjoy!

I think it is the definition of superficial.
It is possible he is being sarcastic, though.
Not my money, though.

who’s licking your watches? Weird.

One fun part of travel is trying new foods. Two years ago I had fresh lychee for the first time. Yesterday, we stopped at Yee’s Orchard and they had something called a soursop. No idea this fruit existed, so good reason to buy one. Pretty tasty!

We also got a few mangoes, some apple bananas, and a small loaf of mango bread.

Did you sell them “pickup only”?

lol I made this big guy carry them from the basement. I actually carried the two 80lbs up.feom.the basement to the kitchen which reaffirmed my choice of selling them.

Should have done that every other day. You big blob. (With all due respect!)

I’m still slowly buying tshirts. At covid, my standard attire became whatever tshirts I had and nobody complained even though some were mildly political. But when we moved to a new location and I became much more visible because of the layout, they started a plain-tshirt-only rule. Other than having a closet full of stuff I can now only wear outside of work, I’m still pretty glad they allow tshirts at all.

I also bought new earpads for my headphones (work and home).

Same, but my company doesn’t care what I wear. But I did have some shirts that need to be retired.

So over the past couple of months I’ve gotten shirts from: NPR, Gillian Welch, one shirt I got on vacation. And a fun Wilco shirt featuring Oscar the Grouch - many years ago, Wilco released a song where the intro was a pretty blatant ripoff of the old Sesame Street song. I don’t think many will get it.

Oooh… yummy tropical fruits. I miss them. Did they have jackfruit, too?

We tried jackfruit here for the first time years ago, and I’ve not seen it since in the grocery stores on Maui. However, we are doing a sunset cruise tonight and grilled jackfruit is on the menu!
