Hunter Biden Investigation

Hunter gets a pass from me because he’s hot

Isn’t knowing about all this just evidence of half my point? You knew about these things, but not Hunter?

And I’m not sure that hiring your own kids or getting foreign trademark approvals are “the exact same situation” as being directly paid by a foreign company. In fact, it feels a bit like whataboutism.

We knew about both. You apparently didn’t.

And don’t kid yourself. If Biden hired Hunter to literally work in the WH, and Hunter then received trademarks after meeting with foreign leaders, you’d be a lot more upset, and for the exact same reasons.

I knew about both but hadn’t considered the nepotism but I guess it’s a good point even though it doesn’t have the foreign influence implication. We already have people in this thread admitting they didn’t know about the Hunter details, we’ve discussed the heavy media censorship of it including the Intercept refusing to publish Glenn Greenwald’s article about it, and the weasel words from the intelligence community half-heartedly implying it was fake so perhaps you could forgive my assumption that you weren’t contemporaneously aware of the details.

Kushner was in charge of saudi relations while also getting a huge loan from the saudis.

Trump is heads and shoulders above any other modern president in terms of corruption, and corrupt appearing behavior.

A huge loan from the Saudis? Or some sovereign wealth fund invested in his company? I thought the questions were more about Trump’s foreign policy decisions with respect to Saudi Arabia, something we could ask of Joe Biden and Ukraine. It’s possible we’re confusing our Trump scandals as literally any inkling of corruption by Trump was spread far and wide across media. It’s not like anything Trump related was widely censored.

Although to be fair, in relation to Hunter Biden’s taxes, there is a grand jury empaneled in Delaware so it’s not like he’s being completely protected at this point. It looks like maybe he didn’t pay taxes on his Burisma income.

I didn’t know the exact timeline because I scanned over several articles and it looked pretty moot. Since some right-wing sectors were freaking out about it again I figured, ah whatever, let’s spend some time reading up on it.

Your comment was “If [Trump’s children] had something similar happen [there would be a big scandal]/Special Council”.

Clearly it happened and there was not. I don’t see much distinction between “thing that brings in money for me” and “company pays me money”.

Either way, you recently mentioned that Hunter Biden will possibly be indicted. Good, if he did something illegal then let him pay fines or go to prison. The wealthy shouldn’t get away with crimes. I don’t care who his father is.

Yes, it is hard to take anyone seriously who casually ignores everything the Trump family did while in power while crying about the tainted laptop and some verified emails that seem to show contemplating what might be ethical in a certain situation, and at worst what might trigger a review or investigation.

Trump and his family have an army of lawyers around them at all times for a reason. This is not anything new since he started his run for office - this is their entire life.

I’ve thought this pretty funny, as I’ve heard a bunch of conservatives whining about libs and Hunter but haven’t heard anything but what you say from non-conservatives. Like everyone else, if Hunter’s done something illegal, I’m 100% for him being held responsible. I don’t get where people would get the idea that I wouldn’t think that.

This.

Because they don’t want to hold Trump responsible for anything and want democrats to be just as bad as them.

Huh, not really surprising, but more disappointing. With the breaking stories about Hunter Biden’s texts, I would have expected you guys to have something more about Hunter Biden that which you could try to minimize. But then maybe the “news” sources you follow haven’t yet reported on the texts. I’ll give it another day or two.

Or you could link. When I googled it I’m not sure what info is new. Lying on a form to obtain a firearm is no good. The rest of swearing at his stepmom and his SIL turned lover sounds like general douchiness.

Sounds like a drug addict who was pissed at step mom. Is this a National Security issue?

Is this going to be like the stuff we were supposed to “stay tuned” for in 2020?

Did that stuff ever come out the way you expected it to?

He sounds like he might have the same personality disorder as Trump. Or just did a lot of drugs. I don’t think i would enjoy being around either.

I just googled and read a few articles. You mean the ones where he curses out his step-mom?

Any relevance to a legal issue or something? Maybe I missed something where the salacious details just washed over germane topics.

Talking to some conservative friends last Friday, the real story seems to be more about how Twitter blocked the NY Post on the story initially. So anything salacious that comes out is just further proof of how the big tech is on a team and buried the story to help Biden win. The them, it really doesn’t matter how meaningless any of the details are that were found on the laptop.

I tried to remind them of all the congressional hearings big tech CEOs were put through for them to explain how they handled the disinformation in 2016 and what they would do differently in 2020. They were under the gun to do something…and I think we all agree that this was clearly a miss.

But it is a frustrating conversation - there were sketchy circumstances around how the laptop was handled, and the actual content may have been salacious, but there was not a lot of real news to break given what was there. At the end of the day, this is still mostly trashing the president’s son, someone who seemed to be a fair distance away from the actual Biden camp.

I disagree. I think Kushner’s and Ivanka’s businesses, which were worth millions, might very well have influenced how we dealt with China and Saudi Arabia. But it’s largely impossible to prove. Similar to Hunter, all we really know is that they had relationships to US power while receiving foreign gifts.

That is, unless there’s an email somewhere on the laptop with Joe Biden himself saying "I would like you to do us a favor…” when discussing an important foreign policy matter. Of course, he’s unlikely to be that corrupt or that stupid.

I know it wasn’t on Hunter Biden’s laptop nor phone, but it is Joe discussing $1.0B of foreign aid.

I forget, why did Joe so badly want that prosecutor fired???

something, something, I think I remember now, the prosecutor was investigating Burisma, the company paying $50,000/month to the “highly qualified (by last name only)” Hunter Biden to sit on their board of directors.
