I’m on a website on my phone and it says to scan the QR code to proceed.
How do I do that? Do I have to fire up the laptop just to do this?
Take a screenshot, go to photos, tap-hold. Should work I think. I find it silly.

You mean you don’t have a secondary, back up phone?
We had security training last year on QR codes, I’m pretty sure the lesson we were all supposed to learn was “you can’t trust any QR codes, they could be malicious and you can’t tell where they’re really going to just by looking at them.”

This was a QR code on a reputable website. I navigated to it on my work computer and used the authenticator on my phone.
Yeah … our security training said that people make reputable-looking websites to pass off malicious QR codes.
