There’s a funny mix here between safety and comfort/politeness.
Masks might be worn to reduce the risk of spreading covid, or to make others feel more comfortable around you, or as a gesture of respect/solidarity with those who need to wear them.
Masks might be removed if you find them horribly uncomfortable, or if you don’t want to shame someone else who finds it horribly uncomfortable.
I’m inviting people over this weekend, and after getting emails on the subject from most of them expressing their strongly-held and somewhat incompatible opinions, I replied to everyone with a mask policy that straddles everyone’s comfort/concerns. It’s mostly based on what my guests want, and not on any objective anything.
- Vaccines required for adults
- Masks optional for adults outdoors
- Unvaccinated children will stay well away from unrelated adults (I’ll let their parents decide whether they wear masks or not.)
- Masks required indoors for all
