A little water blowing in on the cushions is probably fine. They are designed to withstand water. And probably the first season or two even in a torrential downpour they won’t absorb water. But then they will lose their waterproof-ness and will get waterlogged.

But a few drops getting on them from wind isn’t something I’d worry about.

But the breathability of the mesh is definitely something to consider.

That’s a good point about the cushions, its the west side, it will get hit with a lot of rain.

I built a small screened in porch, maybe 8x10, an my first house. It was under the back deck, and faced west. Things got pretty gross sitting out there year round. The dust sticks to everything, then it rains, and it all turns in to a bit of a mucky mess. I had some regrets about that porch and probably would have just installed the rain guttering system under the deck and left the rest of it all open, if I could have done it over.
