Have ovens changed much in the last 20 years?

My Dad & stepmom had this problem and their solution was to put in a piece of butcher block counter since they’d never be able to match the existing counter and didn’t really want all new counters. I don’t know the dimensions of your messed up counter or anything to know if something like that would make sense, but it might?

Plus having butcher block by the stove is nice for setting hot pans on.

Also, my Dad, being a pack rat and cheaper than the average actuary, just happened to have a scrap of butcher block counter left over from a kitchen remodel he & my mom did some 40 years earlier.

Our kitchen is tiny and I don’t think it will be a big deal to replace the counters when we are ready. It’s just not a priority yet.

everything is ridiculously expensive right now :-/

If you want a bigger kitchen it might be a big deal. We’ll just tear out this load-bearing wall…

There is no place to go—well, except the living room. That could work.

I just heard on the radio that 14% of North American lumber comes from BC, so the recent flooding and summer fires sure ain’t gonna help the price!!!
